Aftermarket Navigation

The Suzuki navigation-entertainment system offered from the factory is a 2-generations old Kenwood unit with painfully slow graphics and an awkward interface. Kenwood has just introduced a new Excellon unit, the DNX6990HD, that includes navigation, HD radio, a high-powered amplifier with fast graphi...

Re: CVT beating the dead horse.

I have 33,000 miles on my SE AWD now, and have no issues with the CVT. While the actions of the CVT differ from a conventional automatic transmission, I haven't found anything that I believe that would be a defect, just different behaviors that might be mis-interpreted by someone unfamiliar with the...

Re: What is the ONE thing that bugs you about your Kizashi?

It's time that Suzuki stepped up with a real florescent or LCD display for the radio instead of the silly dot-matrix display with too few characters and no ability to scroll messages. It's a small enough issue, given the current state of technology, but I am always frustrated by not being able to see...

Re: Considering the Kizashi

I have 21,000 miles on my Kizashi AWD SE, and the car has been terrific. The so-called lack of acceleration from a stoplight isn't really an issue unless you really need to win every stoplight drag race that you enter. Passing power, especially at medium to high speeds, however, is petty remarkable,...

Re: Horn

I have been critical of the "polite" horn, myself. What I'd really like are a couple of 133 dB truck-style air horns that would manage to blast the left-lane bandits out of the way! LMAO! Of course, I have no idea how I'd fit them under the hood of the Kizashi... I once owned a 1956 Packar...

Re: Mileage Poll

When you consider the extra cost of diesel fuel, which in MA is almost 15% more than regular unleaded, I have to wonder if a former diesel owner is spending a lot more MONEY driving the Kizashi when compared to the Diesel VW...

Re: Attention to Detail

Kizashis that have the Sunroof have a smaller sunglasses holder than the non-sunroof cars. My non-sunroof SE has plenty of sunglasses storage in it's holder.

Re: How the mighty have fallen: the 2012 Honda Civic...

Suzuki makes a point of noting that the timing chain on their cars is intended to last the life of the engine. Unlike the other cars, Suzuki will warrant a broken timing chain under the 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty: the other manufacturers call it a maintenance issue and won't cover either the belt...

Re: How the mighty have fallen: the 2012 Honda Civic...

No one here seems to remember the timing belt fiasco of the 80's and 90's Hondas. The rubber belt would break without warning, and the engine would self-destruct, often at only 60-70K. Even today, Honda, Volkswagen, Kia, Hyundai and Toyota continue to use rubber timing belts that require expensive r...

Re: How the mighty have fallen: the 2012 Honda Civic...

The issue for the Civic and the Corolla is not that they are that BAD, but that other cars in their price class advanced the art of compact cars so much more quickly than Honda and Toyota have. There is no doubt that the Civic feels 'cheap' inside, with hard, shiny plastic, numb steering, and interi...
