When parking this morning I shifted from reverse to drive and felt a noticeable "jerk" when the car went into D, Have others expirienced this? After i felt the jerk I pulled up a little more and reversed back then shifted to D and the jerk happened again. I drove about 15 min to work(2.5 miles)
Also if I use paddle shifters and downshift a little too soon could that damage the cvt or does the cvt computer prevent possible damage by early downshifts/upshifts?
Cvt concerns!!
yep, normal. Not saying it's right, good or bad. Therefore, I simply come to complete stops before switching between P, D, and R w/ foot on brakes. Smooth as silk then.

Yes I too alway come to a compete stop and give myself about 4 seconds before accelerating, I've felt the 'jerk' every time I shift from R to D and vice versa...standard auto trans have the same jerk when shifting.Ronzuki wrote:yep, normal. My dealer reflashed the tcm. Mine was the first car they did. It helped with the smoothness and speed of engagement but unfortunately, this is a characteristic of these CVT's. They should have put a regular 6sp auto in this car. It would have been smoother and quicker.
