Need some advices on exhaust mod

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

Recently thinking about modding the intake and exhaust. For the intake, I would prob just go with RRM SRI. But I need some advices on the exhaust.
It's my first time modding the car so not sure what's the best exhaust mod for Kizashi. Any suggestion is appreciated!

This being my first car ever with a modified exhaust, I can only speak from this experience. I did have a customized one done at a local performance shop. Mainly because the RRM version was the only available at the time and would cost much more after shipping and paying for installation. I also opted for a magnaflow single in dual out muffler instead of the typical design you see where all they are really doing is removing the rear mufflers. The hardest part is deciding how much muffling you want LOL. Since I had never really owned a car that had been modified it was really difficult to say Oh yeah, I want this or I want that. And since this car was so rare no one could even say that it would sound like after the mods. Also it's not like you can get something installed just to test, you do have to agree and pay for what you did weather you like it or not. So you really have to wing it. If its too loud they can add more muffling devices i.e. resonators/mufflers. If it's too quiet them remove or change the type of resonator/muffler. In my case I wanted a deeper rumble, but with that does come moments of loudness and vibration. I love it 85% of the time. But if my head is pounding from a stressful day at work, I find myself wishing there as a button that could add extra muffling just for a bit LOL.

It will come down to your personal preference unfortunately. But like I said in the end you can always modify your modification.

Supporting what was said above. It is going to boil down to what sound you are looking for. I would doubt seriously you will see much difference in power gains between Borla, RRM, custom, etc. I would ask if owners of different types could post sound clips or even better see if any owners in your area have something. It wouldn't hurt to contact Borla and RRM and see if they have any video of a Kizashi with their product on.

When and if I do an exhaust I will go with Borla, it's the most expensive but it's stainless and will last forever. The RRM is plated and those have a tendancy to flake off and eventually corrode. Also, if you can find a custom shop that can do stainless exhuast see what they would charge.

I don't have a custom exhaust but thought about it. From my brief searching, it really does seem like only RRM has a ready custom-made exhaust for the Kizashi.

Regarding what puckaveli said, I did once find a video on youtube of a Kizashi with the RRM exhaust where you could hear the exhaust note. It's out there if you search.

What I am more curious about is whether an intake and exhaust mod gives the Kizashi a noticeable performance increase other than just exhaust tone enhancement. I once read a long term review on the Kizashi by MotorTrend or some other major automotive publication in which they had their Kizashi modded by RRM. The mods included an intake and exhaust. The consensus by the writers was that it made very little difference in the performance of the car.

I came across that a few weeks back. They'd done performance figures and there was no difference IIRC (or it might even have been a little bit slower?)

Yeah, I think the intake and exhaust are mainly for sound only. Performance gains are really minimal.

There's no logical reason why the power shouldn't improve with a well designed exhaust and inlet. I think Suzuki has done a little bit of development work in the exhaust area already, given headers are fitted standard. Free flowing mufflers may be enough to help out? A lot of people make the mistake of fitting substantially larger diameter piping (but that's rarely a good idea on a non turbo engine.)

I really liked the Borla on my Impala - quiet while cruising, but let you know it was there when you got on the throttle.

I dont think Borla has a kit for Kizashi, only RRM has one.
