A 2008 CTS will be worth about 1/3 what you paid for it. (price of a 2008 is basically the same as a used legacy)

I read this article on Jalopnik a while back that was pretty interesting. It discusses how cars lose value differently. The most shocking thing that it revealed was that in 10 years/120,000 miles, a Honda Civic is worth more than a BMW 3 Series despite the BMW costing nearly twice as much when new.
Generally speaking, European and domestic luxury cars lose value rather rapidly given most of the appeal of owning one is to have a new/newish one. Not surprisingly, most German luxury cars on the road are leased.
At least the Japanese ones tend to last a while without too many problems.
