I second sx4rocious that an OBDII port Bluetooth or Wifi device paired to a smartphone app is the way to go. Bluetooth devices are cheap and good for clearing codes. Wifi devices are considerably more expensive but are preferred for live performance read-outs. I have a Kiwi Wifi OBDII device paired to an iPhone app called Dash Command. It works well for reading and clearing CELs (current or stored) and also live performance read-outs.

Hi gentlemen ,
I went to Super cheap and purchased the scanner , all is good it gives me one error code which is PO443 evaporative emission control circuit , but does not tell me what section??
There were no other codes .
Any clues ??

PS : there are no purge valves available in Australia at present I will have to get one form Japan according to the dealer .

It's a CEL that is thrown when the circuit is malfunctioning.

I went through an evap code diagnosed (free)at a US auto parts store on another vehicle and then payed 125 USD to have a dealer "narrow" it down. They told me it was an evap canister. I ended up replacing the canister, a purge valve and the gas cap which in total were less than the 125 dollar diagnostic. Solved the problem. You also need to make sure all the lines that these are connected to aren't compromised. This vehicle was a 2007. If you know all of the parts involved in tripping this code, and they are less than the cost of the dealer diagnostic, you can take the chance on just replacing the parts. In my case each part was about 30 dollars. It may also take so many cycles of on/off before the code clears.

Here in the US there was a recall involving a spider web issue in the evap canister vent line. Check with your dealer to see if you guys have it. Either way you will want to make sure that is ruled out

That's the problem with generic tools, they give generic codes. The OEM tool would give more comprehensive info. Have you tried consulting the factory workshop manual- there's a post on here with a link to it (try the FAQ post).

I know there was someone on Suzuki forums a while back who was asking how to replace the canister. http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-kiz ... labor.html (Hopefully not your problem.)

There's nothing generic about that, P0443 is the code. You go look it up in the service manual and there is a very specific flow chart telling you what to do.

P0443: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit
This DTC is detected if any one of the following conditions is met.

•Electric current of EVAP canister purge valve drive circuit is higher than 3.5 A for 5 sec. when control duty ratio of EVAP canister purge valve is higher than 10%.
•Measured voltage of EVAP canister purge valve drive circuit is lower than 3 V for 5 sec. when control duty ratio of EVAP canister purge valve is lower than 90%.

Likely failed components:
•EVAP canister purge valve and/or its circuit
•ECM

The Purge Control Valve is supplied 12V on one side, and the ECM supplies a ground on the other side when it wants it to turn on. Sumpin's missing.

Trust me, OEM scan tools can read manufacturer specific codes that often give more precise information. Remember, OBD2 is just a generic minimum standard that all vehicles must have. It's possible there may be other Suzuki specific codes logged as well, that the generic tool hasn't read.

(I had the OEM tool for my last vehicle and it was throwing up codes my generic scanner wouldn't read as they weren't OBD2 codes.)
