From the guy that does the Regular Car Reviews, he does a quick inspection of a newly imported 1987 Suzuki Alto.

A lot of guys on here talk about how Suzuki should have brought the Alto the US, and someone appears to have taken it upon themselves to do just that.

The Alto is too small to realistically meet US crash specs and is really a very cheap, austere car. Think of something like the current Mitsubishi Mirage but smaller and that's what the Alto is like. The car that could have saved Suzuki in the US isn't the Alto but its bigger brother; the Swift.

I realized that this morning while I was in the shower, that I totally mixed up Swift and Alto somehow. Don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.

Thanks Kuro.

I think it's easy to mix them up given Suzuki didn't sell either of these cars in recent generations in North America. I don't think the Alto was ever offered. I often go to Japan (currently there) where I see the Alto and Swift regularly enough to clearly see the difference.
They currently look like this:

Awwww... The Swift looks like a little square Kizashi.

They should have brought over the Swift when they introduced the Kizashi here.

They should have brought it here when it came out to world wide acclaim in 2005.
