Is it safe to add turbo kits to my 2012 Kizashi SE FWD?
Is it a manual? RRM had the official "aftermarket" turbo kit of the Kizashi, and they claimed they could only put it on the Kizashi's with a manual transmission.

If it's a CVT, I'd be really careful. Suzuki already dropped the horses by 5 on CVT models as opposed to the manual. My guess for that is it's all the CVT can handle without having some real reliability issues. And the CVT is $$$ to fix.

All SE models are CVT models so the answer is no. RRM (Road Race Motorsports) is the only known maker of a turbo kit for the Kizashi but they only make it for the manual transmission models like the others stated. I don't even think the kit supports a CVT model.
I'm quite sure of this because recently, I contacted RRM regarding another aftermarket part for my Kizashi. The CEO responded himself and stated that given mine was a manual, the turbo kit was available for my car and he gave me a special deal on it (under $4000). While I appreciated the offer, I wasn't looking to boost my daily driver.

I don't have manual transmission, but got semi-automatic transmission.
Is there some aftermarket parts that can improve my HP other than turbo?

Yours is the CVT model. Continuously Variable Transmission. You can manually "shift" with the shift lever and paddles but the transmission actually has no gears. Those "shifts" are ratio presets for the CVT.david.blevins wrote:I don't have manual transmission, but got semi-automatic transmission.

Unfortunately, we drive one of the worst cars for aftermarket support. There is very little you can do to increase power compared to most other cars. Upgrading your intake and exhaust will probably be most satisfying for power related upgrades, but I'd personally rather focus on wheels and tires. Rather than pursuing an addition of performance, tires and lightweight wheels help to maximize what you already have.
Regardless, here is the link to RRM. They are about the only aftermarket parts maker for the Kizashi.

Personally speaking, if you really want more performance than what your Kizashi is currently delivering, I think you ought to get a different car. The Kizashi is very limited in upgrade options and CVTs aren't exactly the automatic of choice for performance vehicles.

Again David, you've got a CVT with paddle shifters to give you specific ratios if you want to use them. Adding HP to it will put that expensive CVT at risk and possibly void any warranty. The manual transmission models are rated at 185 HP. The CVT models at 180. Same engine. The engine does not lose horsepower by bolting a different tranny to it. The only reason to detune the CVT model is that it must be approaching maximum input shaft hp at 180. If you're interesting better performance, checkout the recent updates to WESHOOT2's thread. He's sees gains in his butt dyno (his wife too) after installing light weight wheels.

It's possible look at the new wrx. It can handle a lot in terms of torque
