Ya , as much as I HATE HATE HATE winter, I'm kinda looking forward to that first good dump of snow so I can try her out in AWD.
My last AWD vehicle was a 1997 Jeep Cherokee 4,0L with big agressive tires, that thing was a beast in the snow.

Snow tires designed for good traction in the snow, Snow tires should be put on as late in the winter season as possible, and taken off as soon as the threat of snow is over for the season.

I agree to that as a general statement, but in Montreal we have to have winter tires on the car "BY LAW" from Dec 15 to April 15. I usually shoot for Mid to Late November as we usually get snow in December and it's often early in the month.
