So not one hard crank in 6 months, and suddenly yesterday it does. LOL. I'm curious what the conditions were for other people. It happened to be rainy here for at least 24 hours . So weird. Electronic Glitches are not usually that far apart and inconsistent. There must be common variable.

my 5 day old kiz did something like this today, nothing too bad, about 2x longer than a normal start up, 330 miles on it....HOWEVER, it did rain very hard(spring time type downpour) for about 2 hours before i started up.....what does it mean??!?

According to the TSB it occurs because of too many unecessary validations the computer has to make. In other words the computer is looking for a list of things that check as ok before actually starting the engine. So the flash in the TSB removes some of the unecessary checks. It's a glitch in programming. The funny part is that the computer thinks it ok to crank the engine but not allow it to start. Go figure. Anyway it's not a real failure just a glitch. I'll get around to the reflash when I can. At the moment schedualing the time during the work week is not worth my time or effort. And it happens so little that I can't be bothered with the dealer experience.

Since I don't know all the parameters it's really looking for I can't answer the question truthfully. I can tell you that it has occured with my car after some rainy cool conditions. I'm sure the ambient conditions are just some of the parameters looked at, but there are many more.

My kiz did the full 10 sec crank a few days ago. Was leaving work and went to start her up, I wasn't paying much attention and was in a bad mood, lightly pressed on brake and started the engine. The next day I mashed the brakes down b4 starting and it started in 2 or 3 cranks(quicker than usual for a cold start)

Well I experience this on my 2012 awd sls with CVT today for the very first time - car just turned 7,000 miles. Should I be concerned? The service bulleting is for 2010 and 2011 models... Anybody out there with a 2012 experiencing this issue?

My 2012 SLS did it one time in 7,000 miles.
