Re: Cabin air filter and oil change thoughts
The mismatched tires are tolerable for 2WD but not AWD. I also have a FWD but like to rotate in a cross-swap so having all four of the same type and age is what I prefer. I also used to own an AWD vehicle so having all four be the same became a habitual preference. Given the poor condition of the o...

Re: Cabin air filter and oil change thoughts
If the oil was that bad, you can assume everything was neglected by the previous owner. You should probably run the car through the maintenance gamut and replace everything. In addition to what you already replaced, I'd also do the following: - Replace spark plugs. - Check or replace PCV valve. - F...

Re: Cabin air filter and oil change thoughts
If your car is AWD, then the rear diff's factory fill was supposed to have been replaced at around 7-8000 miles IIRC. Many owners of both Kizashis and SX4s, were unaware of this required service so soon after buying the cars brand new. There was never an explanation of why, but I suspect the factor...

Cabin air filter and oil change thoughts
I had to use the heater for the first time last week, and the smell of heated air passing the cabin air filter was not pleasant. When I changed it out, it was pretty clogged, so it was due. I got mine at an Auto Zone. They carry a lot of STP filters, and whenever I have a hard time finding a filter,...

Re: About Castrol CVT fluid
Sorry, but are you sure that your Kizashi needs to change CVT fluid? I have talked to the dealer yesterday, and I was told that the CVT fluid needed to be changed over 200,000 kms (124,274 miles). That's a convenient claim for the manufacturer and any dealer as the vehicle and every single componen...

About Castrol CVT fluid
My new Kazashi needed a CVT change, it was moaning quite a bit. I didn't feel like dropping $140+ on the fluid, but I saw I could get Casrtol CVT fluid from Amazon for $70 for 12 quarts. After reading many positive reviews (mostly Nissan, but the occasional SX4 and Kizashi) I decided it would be a g...

Does it matter what brand? I can get 6 quarts of Castrol Green High Mileage for ~$30.

Re: Hello from the US! New 2012 SE owner
I'm 500 miles in, and yeah, I'm hearing a little whine when I've been on the road and it warms up, but only under harder acceleration. I'm going to look into doing it myself, but this sounds a bit more difficult than an oil change. I'll probably be okay if I find good instructions on it. Currently g...
