Re: The Kiashi Spotting Thread!
Spotted a nice grey sport coming through the Shuswap area on monday. Took a pic of both Kizashi's, I'll upload later when I get home.

Re: Kizashi Owners in Vancouver
I have an Alpine 2-din in mine, it was fairly easy to install the deck. Sounded ok with the RF amp, but really didn't drive the sub very well. The factory hu must have some heavy eq'ing. Ended up bypassing the amp and running an Alpine amp as well, complete with Dolby 5.1, and all Alpine speakers to...

Re: Comparison: Honda Civic Si vs Kizashi Sport GTS vs Jetta
VW transmissions certainly are NOT sealed for life, despite what the dealer or owners manual tells you. The fsm has the procedure to check and change fluid and the pan gasket and filter are readily available. Done it many times. If your Jetta is an automatic, I'd seriously look into that. Also all I...

Re: Rear lip spoiler
I put the factory rear spoiler on mine 2 years ago, drilled the holes per the instructions. The springs have been sitting in a corner collecting dust, the trunk stays up just fine. I didn't notice any difference.

Re: Comparison: Honda Civic Si vs Kizashi Sport GTS vs Jetta
Disagree 100% about VW's being crap. They've been some of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. I have had many VW's and currently have a 2011 Jetta as well as the Kizashi. You really can't complain about a car with a base price of 15g, close to half of what a Kizashi cost in Canada at the tim...

Re: Difference between RF audio systems?
The problem is that the RF amp doesn't have a sub input, only front and rear inputs. There is nowhere to send the sub output from the Kenwood unit, unless you add your own sub and amp to the mix. Or better yet just bypass the amp altogether, and run something beefier.

Re: Difference between RF audio systems?
Sounds like exactly what my Alpine sounded like through the stock amp. I guess it just doesn't get along well with an aftermarket HU. But the plus side is the Kenwood is a pretty high end unit, and with an aftermarket amp replacing the stock one you would have a pretty decent system.

Re: Difference between RF audio systems?
Upon further inspection yesterday, while comparing the stock RF door speakers to a set of Alpine components I had sitting here, the stock speakers are 50w 2-ohm. I guess that's how they got some volume from that tiny amp. The speakers are quite beefy, not as nice as aftermarket RF but pretty nice fo...

Re: Difference between RF audio systems?
If removing the "inline crossover" only made it louder, then I would suspect that what you actually removed was the "line out converter". It simply drops speaker level output down to a line level output. It shouldn't be there anyway, instead the line out's from the Kenwood should...

Nice! Glad it all worked out for you. I finished up my install as well but have yet to sort through the pics.
