Does anyone know how to direct dial their cellphone with the kenwood bluetooth radio. I know how to get to the proper screen but the direct dial feature is always greyed out and won't let me dial. The phone connects and work perfectly but I just can't dial from my car, I have to use my cell or use the phonebook to place a call.

I think a lot of the features are dependent on the capabilities of your mobile. eg. my HTC has all the SMS functions greyed out. I'm not sure about the direct dial as I've never tried it.

PS: nice exit from the Suzuki Forums. ;)

I don't think you can dial when you are moving...try doing it while sitting in place.

The handbrake must be engaged to allow direct dialing from the Kenwood Navi. There's a switch installed that prevents direct dialing and DVD Video when the brake is released. I've heard this switch can be removed but have never given it a go.

thanks guamshady, ( good first post and welcome) I think that's the answer i'm looking for. I will go out tomorrow and give it a try and if that's how it works then I will get me a parking brake by-pass which sells on ebay for $9.99.

Yep, that's how you direct dial. As soon as I set the parking brake the feature became available. Now my unit is going crazy. It keeps cutting off then rebooting then about 1 minute later it does it all over again and won't stop even after I turn off the car an re-start it. Well lucky for me I am out the door after I post this to get my 15k oil change at the dealer. I will drop this on them too.I will update later.

update: went to the dealer and the radio fault was the usb mp3 I had just installed to play my music. It was causing my kenwood unit to go crazy. Once it was removed the unit went back to normal. Who would have thunk it. I didn't get the oil change either due to them telling me it would take about 3 hours.....are they nuts or what. I did have an appointment? Well I wound up going to an oil change place and they did it in 20 minutes. I will just save my reciept.

Is there an easier way (for free of course) to ground the parking brake .
