it's kind of funny, because quiet a few auto critics pointed out the issue when reviewing the Kizashi, I would have thought Suzuki would have had a fix for it by now
manufacturers do this so you wont be so suseptiable to speed traps. say the speed limit is 70mph. most drive at 75mph. but you are actually only going 72mph. this is not normal and has been done a thousand times by every car manufacturer. a motorcycles speedometer is off by 6 - 8 miles an hour.
the only real issue i have ever geard of was that HONDA had the ODOMETERS
reading fast so they could get the cars out of warranty faster, there was a BIG lawsuite about this a couple of years ago!
Mods: Cat Back, Under Drive Pulley, Strut Tower brace, K&N Filter, Sony Xplode 6 1/2 4 way speakers in rear, blacked out S in front grill, American Racing Alloys.

Doesn't matter if it is 16", 17" or 18", once with the tire all have the same high.
You can read the specifications for each different tire that come with the different Kizashis and all have the same high: the way it have to be
I've also experienced the "Passenger Airbag Off" light with someone sitting there. It will sometmes eventually disappear after a little while driving (2-3 miles) or othertimes I have restarted the car and it recognizes someone is sitting there and goes away.
HolyGhost, what did the dealer give you to read on this?
Anyone else seeing this?
I have my second oil change and tire rotation coming up, so I'll ask the dealer about it then.

As I understand it, the front passenger seat can detect both the weight and the distribution of that weight in the occupied seat. They are designed to know the difference between a sack of potatoes and a small human or even a child booster seat. With the side curtain and seat mounted air bags, they are able to detect the distribution of the weight of a person leaning towards the door. This will cause the passenger side air bags to disengage to prevent them from doing more harm than good in an accident.
TheHolyGhost, did your passenger shift their weight outward towards the door before the "Passenger Airbag Off" light illuminated? It would probably be easier for this scenario if your passenger is a smaller person.
It happens pretty frequently, under all kinds of circumstances, it just seems pretty temperamental. It may be right and is doing what it should, it just turns off pretty frequently, so it's confusing.

1) Once in a while after driving at highway speeds for a little while I get a warning light and the center info display says that the ESP system needs to be serviced.
Nope, but good info to know about, thanks.

Yes, when my wife sits in the seat. She's a very thin build and doesn't weigh a whole lot. Never w/ anyone else that "fills out the seat" (like me).
One of my complaints of this car is the speedometer. It's hard to read, especially 45mph, because the range is so large 0-140. How are any of us in a stock Kiz going to go over 100mph? Plus, I agree my speedometer is off by 4mph. I solved this by putting a Escort 9500ix radar detector with a visor clip clipped to the headliner above the rear view mirror. In one eye movement I can check my rear mirror and get a accurate digital speed readout from the radar detector. I don't look at the speedometer anymore.
