Key in Fob not working in door

Started the car, left fob on console, got out to scrape ice off windows, and got locked out. My second fob had a low battery so would not unlock the door. I pulled out the "key" from the fob, but it would not unlock the door.
So - after roadside sends a guy to jimmy the inside latch, I went and got two new batteries for the fobs, which work fine now, but the "key" does nothing when turned - no locking or unlocking. I have used the key in the past, on the rear seatbacks, and it worked there. Any clue on the door issue?

Something else is wrong - should not be able to lock it with the fob inside

Not sure how the doors locked in the first place - maybe I bumped into the "request switch" on the door handle...
Either way the "key" should work. I'm wondering if there is a solenoid or electronic switch involved that is not functioning.

Have you ever used the key in the door lock previously? Perhaps you've been given the wrong key?

It works on the rear seat-back lock.

It works on the rear seat-back lock.
I doubt the key cut matters on those rear seat-backs. The key unlocks the door mechanically, so it's possible that the key does not match the car if it does nothing. Did you try the glove box? How about the other key in the other fob?

Did you try to spray lock defroster into the lock hole?

Did you purchase this car second hand? Wondering if the selling dealer, or someone else, replaced FOB(s) possibly w/ used devices, re-coded them to the car and never thought about the key? Many people are not aware there's a key in the FOB.

Well since the physical key and the electronic key aren't bound in any way, maybe you could get a couple of key blanks and cut them. Of course, you'd need Suzuki or a locksmith to tell you the code needed to cut the key, based off the lock (every key boils down to a series of numbers).
In the end, you may need to rekey the car....

As far as I know, that shouldn't be possible. I remember once trying to lock the car with the door handle request switch, and the car let out a "beeeeeeeep"...lo and behold, I had forgotten the key fob inside.
