Paint/Clear Coat Coming Off Wheels

Well, as if I didn't have enough annoyances with my Kizashi, I now have this to add to my list... it looks like the paint is coming off my wheels. In fact, not only the paint, but looks like the clear coat as well.

I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but I have these blemishes on all four wheels. Some of them look like they're maybe from rocks, but on the other hand you can clearly see the clear-coat coming off, so maybe the paint started peeling in places where the clear coat came off? But why is the clear coat coming off?

Regardless, I'm not exactly sure what to do with this. Should I just use some kind of touch up paint and spray clear coat on top to seal the patches in? I'm afraid that if I leave it as-is, the paint is just going to keep coming off.

The wheels on my car is doing the same thing. This is cause by either debris hitting the wheels by regular driving ( happens regularly), and/or poor quality in paint and/or application. You can either get touch up paint and spray clear coat on top to seal the patches in, or take it to someone to get redone.

There are a lot of posts on here about the paint peeling off wheels. Go back to your dealer and make some noise - it's apparently a known warranty issue.

Yep! Murcod is right. If your car is still in warranty you can ask them to exchange them for a new set. Last year I took my car to the Suzuki service advisor and after approved for exchange I had to wait three months because they were directly shipped from Japan. When the time came, they called me and changed all four rims at no charge.

Really? I have a feeling that my good-for-nothing dealer is just going to tell me that it's due to rocks hitting the rims and all they can do about it is patch it up for $$$.

I've got the exact same issue and I'm going to have to fix it in the next few weeks before our car goes out of factory warranty.

I spoke briefly to Suzuki USA and Ray Chevrolet (was Ray Suzuki) about the issue. Ray Suzuki said to bring them in, and let them take a look at them and see what Suzuki says. Suzuki said to take them to Ray Chevrolet but denied that it is a common problem.

Many on here have gone to their dealership and got a brand new replacement set. If they deny me a new set and making a huge fuss doesn't change their mind, then I want them repaired by someone I know who has a company that does just that (Wheel Fix-It), and I want to be reimbursed by Suzuki. Those are the two courses of action I plan to take.

But make sure your wheels and car are clean and well cared for. I'm sure salt and other types of road debris will give them any excuse to deny a claim.

I'd try calling Suzuki first. They know which dealerships are good and which aren't, and they'll recommend a dealership for you to contact. You might be able to take your own pictures and send them to the dealership. I'm considering trying that myself since it's an 1.5hr drive for me to the dealership.

I bought my car used from Nissan/Kia dealership in NY. I don't know if they'll do anything, worse when Suzuki is no longer selling cars in the US.

If it's under warranty you should be okay. You might just need to be persistent and let the dealer know that you've done your research on the matter.
