Stock radio issues

My radio will cut out and not work for days and my service engine light will come on. However periodically power will be restored and the radio works fine for mins, hours or sometimes days before cutting out again. My service engine light will go off during these times. I have checked the fuses and all seems well. Any ideas?

Have you checked your battery? Have you scanned for codes? If you don't have scanner, most auto parts stores will scan it for nothing.

That sounds like a bad electrical connection, could be difficult to find if it doesn't do it in front of the "tech".

On a serious note, I agree with Woodie. It really does sound like a poor electrical connection given it goes in and out.

KuroNekko was onto why I was asking the India question- at least two other mysterious electrical issues on here have been from India and involved rodents.

IMHO the best way to try and isolate the fault would be to scan the codes. It seems strange that the "Service Engine Light" corresponds with the radio failing, but that is a lead you can look further into. You might then be able to identify which electrical circuit is the problem.
