My car seems to be burning oil. On my first long highway trip with my car I noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust. It only lasted a second but it was a lot of smoke. I noticed the smell of burning oil soon afterwards. I also noticed what felt like a slip in the transmission right before the white smoke came out the tail-pipe. I remember it happened when I lifted my foot off the accelerator.
I have taken it to two former Suzuki dealers, and they cannot find out what the problem is. They say the codes are coming back just fine. It only seems to happen on long trips. It does not seem to be happening on my day to day trips.
I just had an oil change about a month ago, and the oil is already very dirty. The shop put in conventional SW30 oil.
Does anybody have any idea what is going on with my Kizashi? I have had it only a month and it is already giving me problems.

Do you find you have to top off the oil between oil changes?

Speed_Racer: Yes, the shop told me the oil was getting low. I got an oil change the week I got the car about a month ago. I still have about 1,500 miles to go until the next oil change. The theory the dealer shop had was build-up/deposits in the system. They want to use some engine cleaner (MOC?) when I come in for the next oil change.
My thoughts exactly. Coolant.Juan wrote:White smoke is usually associated with coolant, blue/black is more like oil... check both fluids and keep track if you need to refill often.

If it's white smoke, it is more likely coolant vs oil. I'd check the following--coolant level and overflow bottle for oily residue; transmission fluid for level and condition. Inspect all the hoses going in and out of the engine and check the work of all the previous people that have worked on the car to make sure they didn't leave something off or screw something up. Good luck!
It has been over a month, and the problem has gotten worse. The car has been burning oil not coolant. The coolant level has not changed at all, but the oil level does keep dropping.
Whenever I slow down and then quickly speed back up, there is a huge lurch from the exhaust and thick heavy smoke plumes out of the tail pipes. There is also a very strong odor of oil.
When this happens I do not feel anything at all from the engine, it is perfectly smooth.
