HID flickering

I recently installed Kensun's HID conversion kit, and I'm having a flickering problem. I have disabled the drl's, but the problem still persists. I have changed out the ballasts with another kit (originally ordered 2 kits), and it didn't seem to help.

Also, I have the Osram Rallye headlights coming. How are these in brightness compared the the Kensun 5000k HID's? If I can't get the problem to go away, I might just switch the lows to the Osram's if I don't sacrifice too much visibility.

Thank's for you help. I can't figure out why they're flickering, and I would love to be able to keep the HID's.

Flickering is usually a ballast issue. You could try new ballasts if they're under warranty. A relay kit might work too

The Osram Rallye's are rated at 2100 lumens while most HID kits are around 3100 lumens at 4300K. I have the Osrams on my other cars and while they're noticeably brighter than stock bulbs, HIDs are definitely brighter. You can't beat the simplicity of a halogen bulb though!

Sounds like you have insufficient power going to the kit or your ballasts are faulty. The DRLs aren't related to the issue as they are the high beam bulbs at low wattage unless you were putting the HIDs in the high beams. I'm assuming they were in the low beam projector lenses.

Given you're saying the replacement ballasts haven't resolved the issue, I'd return the kit and get a Morimoto HID kit like mine. These come with "HD Relay Harnesses" that directly power the HID kits from the battery instead of merely relying on the OE harnesses. This improves reliability and resists flickering.
I've had my Morimotos for over a year with no issues.

Alternatively, maybe you can install capacitors in the harnesses to stabilize the voltage. However, given your kit is new and already causing problems, I'd return them and get a better kit like the Morimotos. Sure, they're over double the price but you get what you pay for. The 5 year warranty is supportive of that. I've personally dealt with the customer service at The Retrofit Source and think these folks are great.

There's more info on installing this kit and about the HD Relay Harness on my write-up:

The reviews on amazon do not appear to be as good the same product. However, after reading the comments some of the people are morons.

I have no doubt there are higher end HID kits out there, but many cost more than they're worth. Having once owned a kit that cost $350 or so in my Mazda, I still experienced ballast failure within 2 years and the build quality was comparable if not worse than TRS' Morimoto.

I also think it's not worth spending too much money on HID kits without a lens retrofit. The optimal light from HID is cast by a lens designed for HIDs. I'm just not willing to hassle with trying to find a HID projector lens and retrofit it into the Kizashi's headlight. I'm okay with the performance of the HID kit in my halogen-intended OE projectors. However, because of this, the light output is not as good as it can be compared to retrofitted headlights or cars with OE HIDs.

Overall, I really like the Morimoto kit from TRS and think the build quality is very high for the price. TRS has prompt and helpful customer service so the combo makes for a good source for HID kits, in my opinion. Their HD Relay Harnesses also sets them apart from most other kits that rely solely on the OE headlight harnesses.
When I was in Japan, I saw some really nice HID kits, but the price was double to four times what Morimotos cost and I just don't think they're worth it.
