Bluetooth vs Satellite Radio

Installed XM radio 2 weekends ago and have had the issue where the radio and phone fight for my car speakers. 90% of the time the radio wins. Calls ring tjrough the phone, I can answer with the steering wheel button, voice comes through speaker for a few seconds and then changes back over to the radio and I can no longer hear the person. Seeing as I drive manual, I'm not trying to drive with a cell in hand. So my question is (because I have not found an answer online) is this a isolated car issue or does this always happen with aftermarket XM radio? I hate having to decide whether to expect a call, or listen to the radio. Both of which I pay for a service.

Is this a OE Suzuki XM radio module you're talking about? If so, where the heck did you get one of those (unless it was already in your car)?

Nope, it's a Sirius XM thing. Works pretty well except for when I have calls.

Alright, so it seems my blue tooth has gone out altogether. The b.t. icon no longer shows on the radio and the steering wheel buttons don't work so I cannot re-paor my phone with the car. This is really ticking me off because talking on the phone is not really possible with a manual trans, and even worse is having it on speaker... no one can hear! Help please, or is this terminal. This could be a deal breaker with the car.

Try disconnecting the car battery for several minutes. That should reset everything with the stereo. If that doesn't resolve it, looks like you have a broken Bluetooth adapter in the stereo.

It fixed itself. Weird, I turned the car on next day and all of a sudden it started attempting to connect to my phone. I'm relieved, because I was NOT about to be driving around all the time yelling at my phone on speaker.

Problem is occurring again. It could be my phone, I sure hope so
