I need to know how to take this piece off.

It became unattached from the frame and it rattles against the metal and I am trying to replace it or secure it back to the seat.

Are you talking about the adjustment handle or the plastic trim of the seat? Regardless, both are clipped on if I recall correctly. I have removed them both before to fix the seat trim piece. Look carefully and you will see that they clip on via mounting points. It's a matter of pulling them off correctly to remove them. It's been a few years so my recollection is rusty, but it's neither hard nor did it require special tools (if any at all). You need to remove the seat adjustment handle first to remove the trim large trim piece that goes around the bottom of the seat.

Yeah the plastic trim. One of the pieces that holds it on broke off and it just kinda hangs there. I will have to look under and see if I can find the clips.

Same thing happened to mine too on the passenger side. The front part can get hooked onto clothing, a purse strap, etc. because of the pointed end. It then get can ripped out rather easily. The metal part of the seat holding the bracket it is actually sharp so it cuts through the plastic trim's bracket easily. To fix it, I stapled the ripped bracket and also glued it. This basically made the damaged bracket functional again in holding the trim piece to the seat. It's worked fine for a few years now.

I just had to fix it again this morning so the process is fresh in my mind. Here's how to remove it:

Lift the back rest adjuster handle up. While holding it up, you'll notice it has a plastic clip that secures it to the metal lever. Unclip it and slide the plastic handle off. Under the lever area on the plastic trim, you'll see a screw. Remove that.

Go behind the front seat to the back seat. Reach under the front passenger seat and remove the two elastic straps that keep the lower fabric cover in position. Flip that up and you'll see that there is another screw at the bottom corner of the plastic trim of the seat. Remove that screw.

Carefully pull the plastic trim piece at the point where the seat cushion and back rest meet as it's clipped in place there. After that, the entire trim piece should be loose. Slide it forward so it clears the metal lever of the back rest adjuster and then you can remove it from the car.

The likely cause of the issue is that the front bracket of the trim piece was ripped or popped out. From looking at your picture, I can tell that it's the case due to the gap between the seat cushion and the trim piece at the front.

While I've stapled and glued the ripped plastic bracket of the trim piece in the past, this time I used Gorilla duct tape. It should keep the ripped bracket mended to keep the parts together.

To reinstall, slide the mended front bracket of the trim piece in place as you also place the metal lever through the hole for the back rest adjuster. When in place properly, the front of the trim piece should be flush with the cushion with no gaps. When things are aligned, snap the trim piece into place. Lastly, reinstall the two screws and re-clip the fabric covering behind the seat.
