I could be mistaken on the facts, but from the last time someone looked into this, it was determined that the sensor on the dash is for the automatic climate control system. I believe the sensor for the automatic headlights is located on the windshield near the rearview mirror on top-trim models. This means you need more than just the auto headlight stalk and will probably have to get the auto-dimming rearview mirrors that have the auto headlight sensor built-in. Maybe the alternative is to get your own photosensor, but then again, the one on the dash didn't work so who knows how that will work.

The rain/light sensor are in the same unit attached to the windshield behind the rear view mirror. The SLS model is the only model that came with rain sensing wipers and automatic headlights. So it seems you would need the sensor which goes on the windshield and wiring that comes out of the headliner to connect to it has to be there. I'm not sure that it is. Then it might work. BTW - It looks like replacing the windshield on an SLS model might be an ordeal as there is a silicone sheet that goes on the windshield. I'm not sure if it can be peeled off and used again. Any SLS owners out there who have had their windshield replaced? Was it an ordeal?
BTW - I've shared a bunch of Kizashi stuff. Owner's Manual, a couple of TSBs, Service Manual and the dealer promo slicks for all 4 years. You can find that stuff here:

I'm not sure that you have to replace the mirror. But you would need the wiring in the headliner to go the rain/light sensor.

I think this is one change that would be a lot of work. (Just like putting factory HIDs on a US model Kizashi.) But I would encourage you to research it and let us know what you find out.
