Almost a rough idle?

Hey! For a while now, I've noticed Azumi has a low frequency vibration that has been slowly getting stronger when I'm holding the brake and she's idling. I can get the intensity of the vibration to decrease by shifting her into (N)eutral, but the vibration is definitely still there regardless.

The OBD2 tool I can borrow from the AutoZone by my house can only pull codes, and Azumi isn't throwing any error codes. So I'm not sure what to do about troubleshooting this. I don't know if I should try to get a mid-grade OBD2 tool, and it's cold outside now, so I'm not terribly inclined to work on her just whenever. On top of that, this is the only car we have that my wife can drive. So I need to try and keep any downtime on Azumi to a minimum.

Is the car supposed to be in gear with the hood up when you go to rev the engine with the brakes pushed?

Anyone had to work on the PCV valve/hose in their Kizashi? My Cruze had a worn out PCV valve. What started out as rough idling and hesitant power delivery in low gears w/ no error codes ended up ruining the intake manifold by the time it got to the point where error codes started popping up.

Yes it should be in gear. So make sure you trust with your life whoever is in the drivers seat. But probably best to stand on the side of the car.

I’ve never replaced my PCV. I probably should. I think they’re expensive. Like $40. All I know is it’s on the firewall side of the valve cover and if memory serves me it’s threaded in.

My previous reply looks like a great way to get hurt. So let me clarify. The reason I suggest putting it in gear is it’s the best way to put the engine under enough torque to show if there’s a bad mount. Reverse would be just as good as a forward gear. You’re not looking to make the car move. Just enough throttle to get the engine to move against the mounts.

If you're getting a bit of a stumble when coming to a stop, I'd clean the throttle body. It's a do-it-yourself job. Remove it before cleaning as you can clean it much better with it off as it's difficult to hold the butterfly valve open and clean at the same time. If you try and use something to wedge it open, you risk having whatever is wedging it fall into the intake which is really bad if it happens. It is no fun getting a screwdriver out of the intake and if you can't you'll have to get it towed to a dealer and have them remove the intake to get it out. $$$ Just remove the intake plumbing and the throttle body which is held on by 4 bolts. Clean it with throttle body cleaner, especially working at removing the carbon ring that forms where the butterfly valve meets the body. That carbon ring is actually the culprit of rough idle and stumbling when coming to a stop on CVT models.

Saw this post and thought I'd try cleaning out the throttle body like LPSISRL suggested...immediate improvement! Thanks!

Glad it helped. I've done it a couple of times with immediate improvement as well. Might be about time to do it again. Seems to get dirty every 20K miles or so. I switched gas and I seemed to get a longer interval between cleanings.

Ok. So I've never done a throttle body cleaning before, but after watching a couple Youtube videos, it seems simple enough. I put a cold air intake filter pod on my Chevy Cruze, and this seems like most the same parts are involved. I'm assuming I should also try and clean out the idle air controller while I'm at it?

I'm not sure what the "idle air controller" is. If you're referring to the MAF (mass airflow sensor), by all means. Make sure you're using the right cleaner or you could damage them.
