2011 Kizashi transmission failure. On the way home to Virginia from our Florida vacation the transmission went out on our 2011 Kizashi. I was wondering if a 2012 or 2013 transmission is compatible with our 2011. Ours is all wheel drive as are the two potential transmissions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

same car..same engine..same engine specs. This should be a 200% match. All automatic kizashis from 2010-2014 are the same as far as i know.

The Kizashi is a single generation model with only one engine and two transmission choices (CVT or manual). All AWD models had the CVT. You should not have a problem fitting a CVT from another AWD Kizashi regardless of the model year.

The CVT was revised in some fashion, such that the 2010-2011 models have a different part number (21000-57LV3 for the AWD) from the 2012-2013 years (21000-57LV5 for AWD). Whether or not they physically interchange without issue, I'm unsure. Even if it does, it is also possible you wound need a matching TCM (the computer that controls the transmission) for the year of the "donor" CVT.

It's my understanding that these different CVTs fit any automatic Kizashi, but I also heard about the TCM issue. I could be wrong, but I thought I read a post a few years ago of someone getting a newer version of the CVT put in to replace an older type under warranty. Hopefully one of the guys who replaced their CVTs can chime in on the specifics.

You didn't mention your mileage. Are you less than 100K? My 2011 just went out of warranty yesterday as I crossed the 100K mile mark. It was still under warranty according to delivery date as well.

I had my CVT replaced under warranty at 76K without any hassles whatsoever without a failure. In other words, it was working fine. It was a bit noisy and the tech found metal shavings in the pan. It was replaced with a new transmission not a rebuilt so I'm assuming that either can be used and the existing TCU programmed accordingly.

Where are you in Virginia? I'm in the Tidewater area and Little Joes did the work.

All correct, and there are in fact, different accompanying TCM part numbers as well.
