Extended cranking

I only have 350 miles on my Kizashi, but i have encountered this twice. Normal cold start up, push the button and car cranks for at least 10 seconds before starting. This happened to me ONCE in my SX4, but never again. Has anyone else experienced this?

I think someone mentioned this a while ago. It would happen intermittently, but they never . Personally, I haven't experienced this.

We had the same problem on our SX4. It was finally resolved by an ECU reflash. From what I understood, in the SX4, when the engine is shut off and comes to rest w/ an exhaust valve open, the extended crank restart would happen. The reflash kills the ignition in such a fashion to greatly reduce the odds of the motor coming to rest with a valve open. We haven't had the problem since the reflash Could possibly be this same thing, or something new (completely different engine and electronics). It took quite a while for Suzuki to come up with a solution that worked. They started out by thinking it was some kind of exhaust pipe bend problem.

Not the first time this has come up, but no solution either.

I had this happen three times since we bought the car. I'm going to mention it to the dealer when it goes in for the first oil change. Their reaction will decide wheter I keep going to the dealer for service.

5600 miles and my car did this the first time tonight. It was around 25 deg and the car was warm maybe sat about 15-20 minutes after driving 8-10 miles. my wifes sx4 has done it several times in 45000mls but very sporadic never had the reflash.

I have had this happen also. I'm not sure its a big issue. Probably just something with the way the push button start works.

I've also experienced this - seems like this is not unique. Of course, it never happened in any of my test drives.

I'm thinking I should take it in, but will wait a little bit to see if any other issues develop.

Happened to me today, first time, 2700-ish miles. Push GO button, relaease and it cranked and cranked and cranked all on its own. Finally fired after about 3 seconds. Not normal at all. We shall see.
