I spotted a car I didn't recognize from across a parking lot a few days ago at work. The taillights, at the right angle, made me wonder if I had spotted a heavily modified Ion.

Out of curiosity, I went in for a closer look. WRX.

Edit: I dont dislike them, just to clarify, but not a huge fan of the latest style.

So, one might ask themself: "What matters; how I look to others ("we never know just how we look through other people's eyes"), or how my vehicle drives?"
Ay?

We know Tim's answer
Well said.

I don't know..personally I think the new WRX is ugly, but it must be a lot of fun to drive! I saw one the other day and I first thought it was the new Impreza...It did not ''stand out'' like the previous WRX model. My two cents.

It is; I immediately bounced off the rev limiter in first and second.....

135,432 miles, and I just installed another pair of tires.
I bought 'em used on CL, and had them mounted up front; Goodrich Winter Slaloms (hey they were cheap!).

Means I gotta couple spares now, too

Last tank Shell premium, 362.7 miles, 10.771 gallons, yep.

I'd say that's kind of the point with the WRX vs. the STI. The STI has the appearance package to stand out such as the huge wing. However, not everybody likes that as it's rather a "boy racer" look. The WRX is toned down in both performance and appearance so it's easier on the hide and the eyes. The major appearance difference between the WRX and the Impreza is the functional hood scoop as the WRX has a turbo and its intercooler is located under the hood above the engine. I think the intention was for the WRX to keep a lower appearance profile. I actually like this about it as the STI's looks are too much for me. Apparently, it's working as Subaru is selling these new WRXs well.

Hey I totally agree with you KuroNekko! Good point. I actually saw a new STI as well and I just do not like the look of it. It does not look mean/aggressive like the previous models. It reminds me a little bit of a Lancer (yark).

1.) I do believe you just quoted a Butthole Surfer's song. If intentional, we just became best friends!

2.) You are correct about driving pleasure sir, therefore I shall NEVER question your intent again. I have punished myself with three swift self-inflicted punches to my left big toe.

Good day! :)

I'm going to have to disagree. I find the new batch of Subarus rather good-looking. I've thought the last generation were horrendous, but the current is much better.
I actually like the look of the current WRX and would like to own one even based on looks. While it's very toned down compared to the concept, I think this one is rather decent and don't understand why so many think it's ugly.

I also want to add that a WRX Hatchback was spotted as a test mule. Sounds like Subaru heard the uproar and maybe decided to offer the hatch Rex after all.

Anyhow, is this really ugly?

I really think it looks like the front quarter of the car is a completely different car than the back three quarters. Maybe it's just me, but it appears to me that the guy in charge of design got finished with the front, got fired when they realized he was coming to work drunk, and hired someone from a completely different country to finish designing the rest. It just doesn't work for me. The new style wheels must have come from a completely different designer yet. Maybe with a more blocked-off rear to match the heavy, bulked up front and old style wheels, it might be different. Just my 2 cents...

I do love me some horizontally opposed blub-blub tho!!
