Surprised to see this article

I was really surprised to see an article about the Kizashi written in October 2016.

It would seem surprising but then consider that it's written by Autotrader, a site that specializes in selling cars, especially used ones. It's not a bad thing to get people talking and thinking about the Kizashi as a used car purchase.
I thought the article was rather good and quite accurate. The only factual error was about sales in Pakistan. While true that it was the last place you could get one new, that's now ended as well. It's no longer in production. The odd thing is that Suzuki Mexico's site still lists them as a new vehicle.

It's kind of crazy how some less developed countries have very old models still sold as new vehicles. That Cultus has got to be at least 20 years old by design. It reminds me of the Mexican Nissan Tsuru that made it on the news recently. It was still being made and sold despite it essentially being a 25 year-old Nissan Sentra. The horrific crash test video with a Versa (of all cars) finally convinced Nissan to get with the times and discontinue it. It's amazing to see how much better newer cars are in terms of safety. It really goes to literally demolish many claims that older cars were sturdier or safer. Even the '59 Chevy Bel Air crumpled like a tin can when it hit a '09 Chevy Malibu.
Same sort of thing is why VW finally ended the 56 year production of the VW bus in Brazil a few years ago. Brazil finally updated their safety regulations and the half-a-century old vehicle no longer complied so it was finally discontinued in its last market.

I resent those comments about the Jetta and its 5Cyl. My mom has one with the Manual and its quite enjoyable to drive and the Engine itself is Bullet proof! Infact I almost bought the car from her, but then found my Kizashi...

VWs have nice mechanicals, but their electronics and the quality of their plastics is garbage. I think the very best thing about a VW is the suspension. Between the Kizashi and the Jetta, there is no contest that the Kizashi is better built and is more reliable.

I agree about the quality issues that VW has but I am mostly referring to the comments about the the 2.5 5 cylinder. That is one of the most reliable engines from VW and in my opinion is a pleasant all around daily driving choice. Granted, the turbo 4s may be better to drive but not as reliable. Anyway this is a Kizashi Forum lol. Like I said I WAS going to by the Jetta off my mom but then found my Kizashi. It is way cooler!

Really? I never heard good things about the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder and it's no longer available in the Jetta. 5 cylinders are generally disliked due to their lack of blending the positive attributes of both the 4 cylinder and the 6, but more bringing about its own poor characteristics. GM also offered a 5 cylinder with the last gen Colorado/Canyon and those were also regarded poorly. I don't think either GM or VW now offer 5 cylinders.

well, yea, they no longer offer the engine because turbo 4s offer better driveability and fuel economy but at the expense of reliability I think its a very pleasant enigine and it still gets 33 MPG on the highway compared to 36 ofthe 1.8t that replaced it in the curent gen Jetta......
