I just had mine replaced today. The dealership ordered the replacement last week. Had to leave work during the day and take it to the dealership. Took them about 20 minutes to put the subwoofer replacement in. I didn't see how they did it, but it probably isn't too hard to get to since it didn't take them that long.
Anyhow, I think the subwoofer I had previously was probably already bad when I bought the car. It was already rattling a little bit. I just assumed it was a cheap crappy sub. Then it finally came unglued and started making that loud farting sound. That's when I knew for sure it was bad.
So I had it replaced and the one they put in does not rattle or make any vibration noises at all. It's solid and thumps better than the last one. I haven't been turning the volume and punch up too high because I'm paranoid about ruining it. But it does sound pretty nice. Better than when I bought the car several months ago.

I took mine over to Jeremy Franklins even though I bought mine in Northtowne. I work nearby the Jeremy Franklin, so it was more convenient to bring it in on my work lunch break. I guess I got a little lucky since it didn't take them long to put the new subwoofer in.CCS77 wrote:KIZAWDinKC wrote:I just had mine replaced today. The dealership ordered the replacement last week. so After reading all the replys on the volume jumping up and down, i guess it must be the amp. i have the same problem with my system , but i have the kenwwod dnx 6020ex nav unit with iphone adapter and i get the up and down volume. any body have the same problem with the unit i have ?

Had sub replaced. I told them that prior to blowing, that the volume was jumping around, even when the speed control was off, that I understood that this could be the root cause of the subs blowing, that it seemed to be an issue with other owners, blah blah blah, but they didn't replace the amp.
Sounds better now, but volume still jumps around. Guess I'll have to bring it back in or wait till this sub blows. When I got home from the dealer replacing the sub, I also noticed paint chips all over the hood which I posted on in another thread.
I'm really trying to be optimistic and positive about this car, but these issues are putting a damper on the "joy" factor.

the amplification peaks and troughs with avc off is defintiely a known and common issue and the cause is the amp.
I had my amp replaced twice before I got an amp that did not have the issue. The amp I got for my XLS that ended up fixing the issue was from the newer Sports model.
Have never had any issues with my sub BTW.
