gmkizashi,
Your car is now looking 'new' again after the paintwork. You might consider to rent a car for this trip, and leave your car at home. That way if you decide to get the clear bra, you won't have any dings. As you live in the Northeast, I would guess you might have to deal with salt and or sand, and that can't be good. This is an expensive and frustrating proposition, but you will have to live with whatever happens for a long time if you get a lot or road rash on your trip.
Kizashi Paint Chip Problem !!!!
How did you get Suzuki to repain the hood??? This is something we would all like to have done as I am willing to bet they shot it with a much thicker coat this time around and you won't experience the same issue. the pain it THIN on these things...a chip in a domestic car is easilly felt and the depth of the chip is seen, on this thing you can hardly feel it...

I called American Suzuki 800-934-0934. They issued me a case number and had me go to my dealer. Dealer sent in pictures to regional Suzuki rep and decision in my case was made to authorize painting of hood. I probably could have gone to dealer first but I wanted to start dialogue with corporate. Make sure you jot down your visits and get case numbers etcetera.
If in different country, try to go through dealer or get number from them for Suzuki Auto in your region.
Thanks for advice/support.

2010 SLS FWD CVT-Azure Grey
Mine is in the middle of the process now, I went to the dealer first and they have taken snapshots which are being sent to the Suzuki reps. I am hoping to hear back in couple of days (business days).
The dealer tech suggested that getting the mudflaps may help to keep stuff from being kicked up by the front tires. *And also that if Suzuki repairs the paint that I should try to convince them to pay for my mudflaps since I'd otherwise be making repeat warranty claims....
I also wonder if getting those plastic door edge protectors might be just thick enough to deflect stuff away. I'd rather scuff up some 20 dollar plastic over repeat paint issues and possible rusting.

I just noticed I have not only the paint chips on the hood that drive me nuts everytime I wash my car...because there are more and more of them everytime...but I also have them on the edges of doors???? WTF? I have never seen chips in these places before. This car has been a major let down for my first NEW car purchase. The Sub, the amp, the chips, the lag in CVT (my fault as I should have considered it after the initial test drive), the center cap of my wheel falling off, the occasional hard start for no reason... =/ I want off of this ride!
Then I have moments like I did last night where I turned the car on, hit the lights and subsecuently the red lights in the interior came on, I put it in drive, turned up the tunes rolled back the sun roof and totally enjoyed my drive and parked it in the garage only to turn back and marvel at the 18 inch wheels for a moment before going inside. bitter sweet it is...

I'm also following issues and posting mine on suzuki forums.com where someone from texas was told by the Suzuki rep that there is a "known" hardening agent issue on 2010 red and grey models. I also posted on what I think is USA Suzuki's Twitter page. With the individual in Texas, the Suzuki rep came out with a "special microscope" to verify that it was a paint issue, not a rock issue. They are painting his WHOLE CAR. In my case it was done via email and just my hood was authorized, they touched up other areas, but it is not the same as painting. I think I will call Suzuki and ask that someone physically look at the car. It seems like they have been standing behind these claims so far, but it sure is a pain in the butt going through this.
This is the best news I have read since I got my car, if I could get this fixed I would be a happy camper. Is there anything from Suzuki that states it is a hardening issue with these colors? You can flat out see in my hood where the paint looks almost blotchy if the sun is on it right.

I have a red 2010 Kizashi and am having the same issues. The majority of the chips are in the front portion of the hood, which is chipping like crazy! There are also chips in other areas as well, such as both rear door steps. I initally called my salesman who said he didn't know of any issues. I then asked a service guy when I went in for an oil change who told me the same thing. I've been meaning to take the car back to the dealer to show them the car but have not yet had the time. I'm certainly going to this now after hearing how so many others are having this same problem. Has anyone contacted a lawyer regarding this issue? That was also going to be one of my future steps. I do enjoy the car otherwise but like so many of you, it makes me sick to my stomach when I wash the car and all of these huge chips in the paint stand out. I will post some pics tomorrow.
