Kizashi Club

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else is facing the same dilemma as me... Basically I love the kizashi, but the lack of grunt really makes me want to bang my head at times. At the moment Im torn between:

a) Installing a turbo on the 2010 kizashi XL; or
b) Trading in my kizashi for a wrx/gti/rs 250.

The biggest problem with installing a turbo is that Im based in Sydney, and there just isnt anyone here with any experience about the entire process. So far I can only see 1 private owner on this forum that has done this modification overseas, and even then he confirmed that he has tuning probs (ecu related). The last thing I want to do is spend $10,000 on the car and realise its no longer reliable.

I'm aware that RRM has n.a. mods that 'claims' to make some additional hp, and even though they seem inexpensive, but Im more worried about warranty and insurance issues (especially with minimal power gains).

Would love some thoughts on this topic...

i'd either trade it in or wait to see if theres any news on the kizashi turbo (apex) concept that came out a little while ago.

no point in being the guinea pig on a car thats got very little after market support and very little overall expertise and knowledge on it.

I say take a bit of a chance and have a shop custom design you a turbo system.. all they need to do is make the necessary headers, pipes, and fittings; as you can find the actual turbo intercooler and blowoff valve elsewhere (turbonetics, etc), If you DO put a turbo, then you'll have a one-of-a-kind car (probably the only turbo kizashi in Australia) in more ways than one. Almost everyone knows WRXs and EVOs etc.. but people don't know this car.. so they will once they see you smoke them

Suzukis are known for their reliability to begin with.. so I highly doubt that its going to be a real problem for you. But if your concerned, just watch the videos of the Bonneville Special Kizashi where the guys mentioned that, in essence, the factory Suzuki parts were already fit to sustain the added pressure.. they just had a few parts replaced because they were running 20+ psi, nitrous, and at over 550 hp. So, unless your planning on getting that crazy, its safe to say this engine won't break because of a turbo installation. (Keep in mind, they changed a couple of things to make it "bulletproof")

If you've got the money to get a wrx then why not just spend a little on this Kizashi? I definitely see the benefits and would do it myself if I had the money.


PS. Just a word on the N/A mods... I'd rather go big or go home when modding this thing.. why add barely 20 hp when you could add 100 or more depending on your psi?
