Dealer conducting tests on Tires

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

So I brought my Kizzy in for it's complimentary 3000 mile checkup. Interestingly, the service manager said that my tires are wearing a little uneven, looks to be a toe issue. He also said that they (not sure if he meant the Dealership or Suzuki themselves) are conducting a study on the tires. Apparently, they are noticing many problems with these tires feathering. He's been replacing these Dunlops with Generals (Which was going to be my next set anyway). In addition, he asked that I take my car to a performance alignment shop in which they will pick up the bill.

I knew these tires weren't that great to begin with. But for Suzuki to take a preemptive approach to it was pretty awesome.

Apparently Suzuki revised alignment specs late 2011.

meh...they wouldn't cover the cost of my alignment, at their dealer, this past Dec/Jan once it was determined the alignment was out by the visual, abnormal tire wear. I don't call that preemptive.

General's G-MAX AS-03 are what I'm going to replace them with when the time comes.

'S' model size is different than GTS. The G-MAX is what comes up as a OE replacement for the GTS, plus I liked the reviews I read and the OTD price is pallitable at my local shop.

I went with the Continental DWS. Seem quieter and smoother than the Dunlops

I am taking my Kizashi in to the dealer for the belated 7,500 mi. service at 10k, I am going to have them do an alignment check...

Excellent idea. And if it's out of spec at all, tell them to warranty it. My dealer called the rep, after the fact, and they wouldn't reimburse because I was over 12,000 miles. I called BS....it wasn't like I was asking them to replace tires or anything. I posted elsewhere that I should have noticed the abnormal wear during my previous rotation and got it in for a check. Handling was fine on the car so I didn't get a daily driving reminder that anything was wrong.

The Contis are the second choice for me. Reviews are about the same, but the OTD price is quite a bit more around here at least.

Just reinforces the fact that all dealers are different in their approach. I'm lucky to have an outstanding dealer that really values the customer relationship. I forgot to mention that they didn't give a complimentary carwash which is supposed to be included but the Manager said that his detailers were out, but the next time I bring it in, they are going to do a full detail in and out.

Nothing about the handling of my car signaled anything wrong, but when I took it in, sure enough, the alignment was out (Front right toe out, and rear right toe out of alignment) "Found feathering starting" was noted on the invoice, so I guess that will help in the possibility of a claim..

Your post in another thread about the 12k deadline was a real motivating factor, thanks for the heads up. My service advisor said that complimentary alignments are available for the first year, so I recommend doing so to others.
