before and after dyno comparison.....what a waste of money..

Well guys, this is it. The before and after dyno you guys have been waiting for. My ride is a 2011 AWD Kizashi SX w/CVT. I did the before dyno back in August. Did it in both 3rd gear and 4th gear in manual mode. Then I did the after dyno just today and here are the results.
When I first put the ECU back in the car. I felt the car has more power across the power band. Acceleration is faster and response is quicker. But after I did the dyno today, surprise surprise.......not only did the car gained any power or torque, it actually lost some!! = =
The first one is when the car was dyno'ed in 3rd gear. Before the dyno, the car 128 HP and 136 lb-ft of torque. After the dyno, it's down to 124 HP and 129 lb-ft of torque.
This one is done in 4th gear. Before the car has 124 HP and 135 lb-ft of torque. Now it only has 118 HP and 136 lb-ft of torque
All the dynos are done on the same machine and operated by the same staff. The only difference is that right now it's about 0 degrees outside whereas it was around 25 degrees back in August. But this shouldn't make any difference because dyno was done inside and it's about 20 degrees inside the garage.
Even though personally I felt there's a difference in throttle response, thinking that the car is more responsive and faster, the dyno results contradict my believe. This goes to show that it's just a waste of money and time to reflash an NA car.

I thought you'd had the CVT in "auto" for the original dyno run? Must have a bad memory!
You can get gains on a NA vehicle, but they usually won't be too impressive. I've had good results on a previous vehicle. Things they often do like raise the rev limit would be a waste of time on the Kizashi because the peak power starts dropping off before the redline.
You're probably better off getting a decent exhaust done IMHO and possibly using a drop in K&N style air filter. Even then you might not get the desired results.

Well that is a real shame. I still had my hopes up about this, even though my gut was saying BS, especially with the kind of responses they guy from Dynotronics was posting. I'm dying to see what his response is to your results. I'm sure they will say something along the lines of (Gee, well no 2 cars are the same, or must be your gas). Any way at least you didn't loose any money. Hope your car doesn't have any ill effects from all of this.

Yeah it is. I DO feel the car being more responsive....might just be my wild imagination lol. I am pretty surprise to see the result myself since I am expecting no improvement in performance but not a DECREASE in performce.
Actually I am still out $500 cus of the shipping, import tax, dyno cost etc etc. So for anyone who wants to get the bang for your bucks for NA cars, get a CAI or SRI and a better exhaust would be more cost efficient than an ECU reflash.
Oh and I am not happy with their customer service either!

My memory isn't so bad after all

Did you have it in auto the first (preflash) dyno runs and then in a "manual" mode the second time? You should have done them both exactly the same for a comparative result IMHO.

I don't think manual or auto mode would have made any difference, the bottom line is that he hasn't made any extra power hence the whole thing was one massive waste of time and money.
Also this would explain why Dynotronics refused to release any dyno data because they knew their claims were BS.
Anyways the only way to make serious power gains is to go with forced induction. All other mechanical upgrades are minor and not worth the money IMO.

yeah, at first i thought they did the before dyno in auto as well. But they later told me they did it in 4th gear when i went in to do the after dyno. sorry about the confusion.

Okay, thanks for clearing it up.
BTW the power increase you felt might simply have been from the ECU losing all it's learned values. I know on my previous vehicle all the forum "gurus" swore temporarily removing power to the ECU would give the vehicle a power boost.
