Hey everyone,
Quick question, is it worth upgrading my current factory Rockford Fosgate head unit to a Kenwood DNX 6020?
Suzuki offers a entrainment package upgrade for 1000$ it includes the unit, dash kit and installation.
I figure I could instal it myself if I purchase all the parts needed separately for cheaper.
Or are there any other reco's as to what double din I should by? I want something with Nav and DVD support, preferably under $500
Thanks,

Found a Kizashi Kenwood unit for about $360. Does anyone know if it would be simple plug and play to instal it? or do I need to order a different wiring harness and what not?

I know this is an old topic - but I am curious too. What OEM like upgrades can we do to the base-level stereo?

By "base" do you mean non RF system?

It's not plug and play. You will need a different wiring harness and a GPS antenna for the navigation system just to list a few things. You might even need a little more but right off the top of my head you will need those things. Maybe someone else can add or collaborate this.

Basically, there's no reason you can't fit any aftermarket double DIN head unit. The RF system has (obviously) a lot better speakers and a separate amplifier - so the wire harness and interfacing a new head unit will be different between RF and non RF. I put a post up a while back with wiring details for the non RF Kizashi's.
Suzuki sold/ sell "plug and play" upgrade GPS Nav kits with everything needed, but you can buy most bits on the internet.

Agreed. Keep in mind the RF system is really the amp/speaker system. Head unit is something else (Panasonic I think). Don't let the RF logo on the head unit fool you.

Yes, if it's like the non RF head unit (and they do appear to be almost the same) then they're made by Panasonic. Mind you the Rockford Fosgate unit does fix the two things wrong with the cheaper system - it's lack of power and cheap speakers.

Hi guys,
Just wondering, would something like this be helpful for an aftermarket solution.
According to their eBay page, they supply the plug & play connectors to a number of headunits.
Who's game enough to give it a try
