How much do you pay for an Oil Change?

So I decided to be "wise" and take my car into Suzuki for an oil change and tire rotation. Cost me $72.00! I've never paid that much for a simple change and rotation at any other garage. Any reason why I should continue to take my car to the dealership for routine maintenance at these rates?

Wow... The dealer I bought mine routinely sends me coupons an specials for oil change and tire rotation for $30 dollars which I think is a good price.

That is pretty steep.
I've been doing my own oil changes for about ten years so I don't know the common rates too well, but I believe an oil change should cost about 25~35 US dollars at a shop or even Jiffy Lube. The price includes filter change.
Tire rotations cost about $20.
My oil changes cost me about $35, but that is just in parts. I usually get my 5 quart jug of full synthetic oil at Walmart and then get an OEM grade or high-end oil filter. I used to get Motorcraft filters for my former Mazda because they were OEM.
Now, for the Kizashi, I will opt for high-grade filters from auto parts stores. I picked up two Mobil 1 filters on a sale for my next oil changes.
Although I spend as much as one going to Jiffy Lube or a shop, consider this: I am using some of the best oil and best filters for the car. Jiffy Lube charges the same to fill your engine with conventional oil and a generic oil filter.
The use of synthetic oils and high capacity, high quality filters also allows for extended oil change intervals. This ends up saving money.
I am planning to keep my Kizashi for a long time and so it's an investment to use the best stuff that I can get my hands on easily (there are better oils like Amsoil, but they are hard to get and rather expensive).
Back to your point, $72 is too much, but then again, you went to a stealership.

My dealer (Select Suzuki in Frankfort) charges $20 for a regular oil change, 30 for a full synthetic oil.

I paid 62 dollars for my 12k service on my sls over a month ago and that included a full synth oil, rotation and balancing. Also cabin air filter service, what ever that actually means.

I use Platinum...a couple months ago, Carquest had a promotion on Penzoil Platinum: 5 qts for $20 plus Penzoil had a rebate $10 Shell gift card which made the final cost for 5 qts is about $10+tax. Needless to say, I stock up 40 qts

)
The Mobil 1 Extended is about $5/each on Black Fri @ Advanced Auto..... I bought 8

)
I am good for 4 years

In Australia the price quoted for the oil change and tyre rotation would be considered very cheap - even if it was just for the labour component and not including parts!
