Fuel Tank Size?

The owners manual, brochures and specs in every review I've read say the Kizashi has a 16.7 gal. fuel tank. I've either got a screwed up fuel gauge and trip computer, or my car has a tank somewhere between 12 and 13 gallons. Does anyone know for sure how big the tank is? I've gone as low as about 1/8th of a tank (according to the gauge) with 50 miles till empty per the computer, but never put more than 10 gallons in the tank in 2,000+ miles.

Try to fill your gas tank when the gas icon shows up on your dash.

I personally have the same concern.

I have a 2011 Kizashi GTS CVT, and I have only filled it only twice so far (450 miles or so), and oth times, I drove to E until the light was on, then drove about 15-20 miles more. I confirmed the range just before the light came on displayed "30" however, when the light comes on, it displays "--", I filled it... and it took 12.3 the first time, and 12.7 the next time, after clicking and topping it off.

Yet in my owners manual and online, it says 16.7 Gallons.

I am convinced, some of our cars might have the larger tank, but many of us in this forum, have a smaller one. (Based on other threads mentioning this same topic.)

Also, the needle seems to move from F to Empty too fast for a 16.7 gallon tank.

The tank is 16.7 and you are filling up around 13 when the empty lights comes on? Many cars specially imports by design they keep a huge reserve of gas even when the warning lights comes in. Reason? Most of these cars are sold for 3rd world countries where they don't have the luxury of having several gas stations whithin a mile radius. Or for people like my wife who allways drives the car back home with the gauge needle sitting on the far left and with the E icon blinking. One time on a road trip she drove 20 or 30 miles without caring if the lights is already on.

I ran my Kizashi for about 20 miles after the light came on, and it took 14.3 gallons. I have no doubt i could have squeezed another .5 or so into it, but i took the nozzle out at first shut off.

My range display listed 20 miles until fill up, and I filled it to full with 12.1 gallons, so I assumed I had a 13gal tank, but maybe not?

I regularly force over 14 gallons into mine.

There is another thread into this subject, and some of us have already confirmed that the gas tank is indeed 16.7 gallons ;)

We can confirm also that the reserve is anywhere between 3-4 gallons. I have gone as high as driving 60 miles with the light on
Let me find the thread and link it

Alex

Edit: Found it! How far can you go?

@ Alex, thanks I have also read that thread.

However, I am still convinced SOME of your cars have the 16.7 tank, where as OTHERS of us, do not have it.

There's no way Suzuki makes 2 different sized gas tanks for the same car, unless it was a hybird model and they needed space for the battery.

Or the other case is a drug dealer got a hold of your car and left some stuff in the gas tank.

Do you take the pump out when it stops or keep going a couple more clicks?
