2014 Mustang or 2013 Kizashi GTS?

Hey everyone,

I have owned my 2011 Kizashi SX for just over a year now and I love the car.

But... I have been eyeballing the recent deals on new Kizashi's and I am very tempted to trade up to a newer model (although not much has changed since 2011). I wanted to wait until the 2014 model is released and see if there is any difference. Have you heard of any?

Aside from the Kizashi, the 2014 Mustang GT is my dream car. I understand that it is in a completely different class and few comparisons can be made.

Have any of you owned a Mustang? If so, how did you find the reliability?

The interior seems a little cheap around the doors but aside from that I love the styling.

The extra power will be an added bonus.

I know im new here but wont it be a tremendous hit to trade in your old kizashi? I don't think they are giving alot for trade in value.
The mustang is a completely different car but I have heard the v6 model is more reliable than the 8.

Is 2014 the year that the Mustang platform will be totally redesigned with independent rear suspension? If so then the concepts I've seen look pretty sweet...but I'd still give Ford at least one model year to work out the new platform kinks before thinking of buying.

As far as the 2013 Kizashi goes, what I've found is that Suzuki (for whatever reason) totally eliminated the 6 speed manual option for the GTS, yet make it possible to get a leather interior/sunroof/heated seats....basically making it an SLS without auto headlights. If none of those things are important to you, then you'll just be getting a younger version of the same car you have already..

First of all, my understanding is that there are very few (if any) 2014 Kizashis in North America. Suzuki cancelled North American operations late last year for the US and a few months ago for Canada so I can't imagine that many, if at all, 2014 models came to NA. Even then, they would be no different from 2013s.

For the US, the 6 speed manual was killed off in MY2013 for all trims except for the base S. It was previously offered in the GTS and SLS.

The new Ford Mustang is going to get an overhaul. In fact, it's going to Europe and will feature a new engine (4 cylinder turbo is rumored) for that market. It's also going to get independent rear suspension (finally).

So basically, there is no benefit to upgrading to a newer Kizashi aside from it being new and back in warranty.

I like the 2015 Mustang concept pictures but imo it has lost the muscle car look. Maybe the 2014 models will decrease in price as the 2015's roll out.

I can't imagine a RWD car would be a great idea in Canada...personally, I would stick with AWD or FWD...and update to a newer version of the Kizzy!

Unless, you wanted a different trim (I'm not familiar with the Canadian trims so I am not sure what your SX entails) a newer Kizashi would mean lower mileage, warranty, and possibly the Sport body package depending on which trim you get. The Kizashi pretty much did not change mechanically or even stylistically from MY2010 to MY2013 as the car only survived its debut generation in North America.

I agree that you may get a good deal on a current gen Mustang when the new ones roll out. I actually really like the look of the current ones and have fantasized of owning a white convertible V6 with a 6 speed manual. 8-)

Oh yeah!

This was my other concern with the Mustang. I would hope that some weight in the trunk and winter tires would help.
