Recall......

I just spoke with my Suzuki dealer and they told me it's 2 recalls. The door hinge of course and they need to update the computer information in the car. They will call me when those parts arrive.

The computer "update" sounds interesting. Would be great if it fixes some of the performance quirks that have been discussed in the forum. Did they tell you anything about it?

Just got my car back from the dealer this afternoon and they replaced the broken subwoofer which seems to be a wide-spread problem here, and also had the center door replaced under the recall. I also asked about the "second" recall regarding the CVT re-program and they said that my car (which has CVT) doesn't meet the recall criteria. huh?? are there different versions of CVT transmissions in a Kizashi? anyway, I'll keep an eye on the forums and Suzuki USA to see if things change.

I don't think the CVT issue is actually a recall. It might be a tech bulletin. The only recall NHTSA shows for the Kizashi is the console door. Recalls (issue and remedy) have to be reported and approved by NHTSA before any work can be performed.

He didn't tell me much about it and plus I was at work. I didn't want my boss seeing that I was doing personal things at work.

On the other thread, it is a CVT reprogram. Mine is scheduled for next week. They said not all the cars are flagged for the recall - they should run your VIN number in the system to check.

Found the recall article too from Autoblog...a very minor recall, nothing to fuss about really compared to other makes (i.e. Toyota , etc)

Suzuki Kizashi hits the recall skids over dashboard safety issue

"Bad news for the loveable Suzuki Kizashi: the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has issued a recall on the Japanese sedan. Evidently, the lower glove box door can pop open during an accident, possibly coming in contact with the front passenger's body at the same time. For those interested in such things, the news means that the Kizashi doesn't conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201. The standard deals with passenger protection from impact on pieces of the car's interior, fittingly enough.

According to the NHTSA, Suzuki will replace the offending door with a new piece free of charge on all 5,107 Kizashi models covered by the recall. There's no word on how long the fix should take. For more information, owners can check out the NHTSA site or contact their local Suzuki dealer.

It's not the glovebox door, it's the door in the console ahead of the shifter. The concern is that if you have junk in there, it could come flying out. I'm thinking that the only way is if you really got torpedoed from behind... I have a copy of the tech bulletin to replace it. 13 pages of step by step. I'm thinking about .75 hours labor to replace it.

Read it carefully...it was mentioned TWICE:

My dealer said they only had one recall the door. NOTHING in regards to the CVT?

I am scheduled to have the recall work done on 7-28-10.

Just curious, do you notice any difference with the replaced door? Does it open the same way (with the dampened move), or does it have a different closing mechanism?
