Kizashi Club

I've been trying to charge my phone (Nexus 5) using the Kizashi's USB port, but I only have data cables so my phone will only draw 500 mA (it recognizes the port as USB versus AC).

Has anyone managed to get full speed charging from the USB port through the use of a charging cable (data pins are shorted)?

I'm trying to decide if I should purchase a charging cable or a 12v charger. If possible, I'd like to keep my 12v socket available for other devices.

My iPhone5 charges via the USB port while playing music or navigating. It charges as long as it's plugged in. I use the cables that come with the phone which are used for both data and dedicated charging. However, it may charge faster with a 12v socket adapter vs. the USB port.

You are aware that the car has two sockets, right? There's another one inside the center console bin at least in my 2011 GTS.

Is there a way to see if your iPhone recognizes the USB socket as USB (only 500mA) or AC? This will determine if it's the socket or my cable that is the restriction. If it's the socket that is limited to 500mA then I'll have to use a 12v socket charger to charge at a higher rate.

Yeah, but the socket in the arm rest is a bit out of the way. Did Suzuki included channels to route cables out of the bin? I haven't inspected it thoroughly yet.

Yup, they did. In fact, for both out of the bin and also for going into the armrest shelf. They thought it out.

Well I'll be damned, the underside of the arm rest cover also has slots to organize cards and a pen! I should look around my car more often

Yeah, man. I've got pens and insurance cards there. Be careful as the plastic clips looks a bit brittle. In fact, one of the clips for the cards was broken by the previous owner so I super glued it.
