How much of the Accord's faltering is due to the fact they wouldn't discount the car, AT all in the first half of the year, and when they did put in a discount, it was still more expensive than comparable Camrys, which I see a lot of around where I live. Especially the XLE and XSE Camrys which would be comparable to the top trim Accords with the 2.0T.KuroNekko wrote:Given the news of the Honda Accord's faltering sales...

Yes, I think Honda was overconfident in their new Accord. It's apparently very good mechanically but poor discounts on the car have hurt its sales. However, the main factor is that Americans simply prefer CUVs these days. For the first time ever, the RAV4 outsold the Camry. The Nissan Rogue is Nissan's top selling vehicle. Honda is also responding to the CUV trend by bringing another CUV soon to fit between the CR-V and Pilot and perhaps revive the Passport name.KansasKid wrote:How much of the Accord's faltering is due to the fact they wouldn't discount the car, AT all in the first half of the year, and when they did put in a discount, it was still more expensive than comparable Camrys, which I see a lot of around where I live. Breaking news! As of this month, you can finally lease a base-model Accord for $0 down. Hopefully, sales for their top trims will pick up as well. I really want that 2.0T that Honda's putting out to do well for a long time.KuroNekko wrote:Yes, I think Honda was overconfident in their new Accord. When we go to PA, we tend to see quite a few though. Although the numbers are going down as the cars age.
