sooo i just ticked over 30k miles and today my rear brakes started grinding the retainers into the rotors so they are 100% toast (i guess i am pretty rough on them). i dont see any akebono part offerings on rockauto, i was wondering what others have used to replacement?

That's interesting as I just checked their online catalogue and they don't appear to make anything for the rear!? http://www.showmetheparts.com/akebono/

They only list these for the front:
ProAct Ultra Premium Ceramic ACT1338
Performance Ultra Premium Ceramic ASP1338

Perhaps try calling a Suzuki dealer and ask if they can source the OEM rear pads?

Strange indeed. Some sites list ASP537 for the rear but Akebono's catalog only lists it for the SX4

Damn I bit the bullet and ordered Bendix pads I have to commute 50 miles a day with the retainers cutting into the rotor until I can fix it this is just from coming to work today

You really should get them machined when fitting new pads (even disks that look okay should be machined).

I already ordered new rotors this one has been machined already by the backing plate. I'm trying to decide if I should borrow someone's car for the next two days or keep using it the way it is. Stopping power isn't an issue...

If you're replacing it all and stopping power is still fine then I don't see any issues. People have done worse...

It's your call. Technically (if you're down to the backing plate) then it would be unroadworthy. Having said that, most of the braking effort is done by the front brakes- which is why it wouldn't feel much different. You might have problems if you had to perform an emergency stop.
