All-season tires
New to the club, have a 2010 FWD Kizashi, purchased in April 2011. Recently passed 30K, and time to replace OE tires. Does anyone have a recommendation from their experiences on a good all-season tire to get? I'm in Kansas, so we see it all, but mostly concerned with dealing with snowy weather, and don't have AWD. Thanks!
Hey! I just hit 20K in my 2011 AWD Kizashi SE. I'm planning on replacing the tires in my Kizashi sometime in the next few weeks, but I was going to try and get a set of winter tires, since, as you so eloquently put it, we do tend to get some snow here in Kansas. And in general, winter tires are just more safe in the winter, even when there isn't snow.
As for all-season tires, I've always been a fan of Bridgestone Potenza's. I know they don't make the Potenza's I had on my Kia anymore, but I don't know if they still make the next gen Potenza's. They were pricey but had good performance for all-seasons tires.
Where are you at, and where did you get your Kizashi? I've been hoping to find someone else from the forums in the Kansas City Area.

I have goodyear eagle ls-2's on the front of mine and the stock donlaps in the rear an I've gone almost two years through an almost constant winter in fort drum ny . We average 21' of snow a yr lol you'll be ok with almost anything that has a good wet weather and light snow groove. The fwd is really good in the kizy and I've only got stuck once and that was my own fault nothing of the conditions of the road. I.e stuck in driveway trying to rush to work with out shoveling said driveway after we had a 1.5' night of snow lol. you should be ok . If you have a 6mt just turn off traction control and use a higher gear to get going trust me it works and u won't ever get stuck .. 3rd seems to have most torque at low speeds so that's what I use just don go hammering on it and ull be just fine

Avoid Kumho 4x tires. They were good at first, but tires got very loud after 15k and lasted about 35k. I'm on Cooper rs3-a for about 2k and they are much better than the Kumhos. Got them for about $250 after rebate without installation.

Was really enamored with car (before purchasing was thinking Forte), and didn't realize at the time what an AMAZING deal I was getting. Hey! I live in OP! And I got Azumi from Northtowne too. I'm not too impressed with the service there, but I was able to purchase my Kizashi "used" with 127 miles. I feel the same way about Civics. Seems like there's 3 of the same color Civic in the parking lot at my work.
Anyways, back to the subject at hand, I'm planning on getting as set of Nokian WRG3's that yoshi2012 mentioned earlier sometime this week. The only place I could get them from was Discount Tire. They have two locations: one in Belton and the other one a few blocks away from the Northtowne dealership, coincidentally. The Nokians are pricey, but they actually have a mileage warrenty, which none of the other winter tires do. So you get superior winter performance, and shouldn't have to change your tires for the summer. I have to get the tires shipped in though, because the only Discount Tire that has them is in Iowa for some reason.

So for one reason or another, I wasn't able to find anyone who'd sell Nokians in the KC area. The closest place I could find was in Columbia, MO. Instead I picked up a set of Michelin Sport A/S 3's from the NTB off of 119th and Blue Valley Parkway. They were having a buy 2 get 2 promotion last weekend, so I decided to do that instead.
The Michelin's are about the same rating as the Nokians, with a little bit better summer performance, a little worse winter performance, and only a 45,000 mile warranty.

Another recommendation I can throw out there are the Fallen Ziex ZE-950. They get good reviews but aren't great in snow. For a set of 4 you can get it at $586 free shipping 235/45r18 size. Below are the reviews.

Nothing beats dedicated winter and dedicated summer tires. The best alternative based on my research and in my own opinion are the Nokian WRG3 tires. They won't outperform dedicated snow tires like Nokian Hakkapeliita R2 , Bridgestone Blizzaks but for those on a budget that don't want to deal with having 2 sets of tires and having to change them twice a year then Nokian WRG3 for me was the best alternative. It's a tough thing to decide especially if you have limited funds. Do what's best for your situation. Don't go cheap if possible and stick with reliable brand names.
