Well, they went on round.

Took them on a 129-mile test loop last night after work, giving them a chance to reveal themselves.
They did.
Feel a wee bit 'taller', and a tad of squish when firing steering inputs to them. The 7.5" width of the wheels seemed to keep the sidewalls pretty darn stiff, though.
Pushed fairly hard. Just one moment of gentle progressive traction loss as I twitched hard left into a left-hander with reverse camber and mid-corner bumps and severe undulations. Recovered immediately and without drama as I slammed it into the following well-cambered right.
S-curves, ah.

I remind myself: These are premium snow tires that also offer decent performance, not the other way around

Last tank Gulf mid-premium blend 25.3MPG.

Changed tire pressure from 35 PSI all around to 42 front, 40 rear.
Ah.

Last tank (still) 26.3MPG.

Winter gas time, averaging now 22--26 MPG.

The Xice tires are proving their worth, but even still, I almost wrecked 20 yds from my driveway Saturday night, sliding heavily towards the trees until, luckily, the tires and stability assist kicked it back to a controllable point.
Way over-cooked it coming into the curve.......

I'll have to keep watching your posts on the xice. I was thinking about getting 1 of those to replace the factory spare with a 16" alloy from an sx4 (have the wheel already, just need tpms sensor).

I also have the X-Ice tires and would strongly recommend them.

I had a used set of X-Ice3 last year and I really liked them, but they were done at the end of winter. I bought another set 2 months ago and riding them now. Even better as they are new! The X-Ice3 and the Blizzaks are usually ranked first and second (or vice versa) on several lists when it comes to winter tires. I could be wrong, but I believe the Blizzaks are better on ice and the X-Ice3 are better in snow.

I believe I can crash no matter what it's wearing, but I really do like these Michelins.

Feedback here suggests the newer Continental Extreme Winter Si is a bit better than the Blizzak, and of course, there's the ultimate Nokian R2 (but it wears like an eraser).

I like these Xice tires enough to rotate them

Check out the General Altimax Arctics--cheap and have lasted us 3 winter seasons, and one summer because I didn't change them to the summers.

These are so good that these were the tires of choice of the local ice autocrossers in Wisconsin.
