Dealer Wants My Kizashi

So I just rolled over the 3 year ownership mark for Azumi a few days ago. Coincidentally, the salesman from the dealership I bought her from called just now, sayin' he's got a list of people that are looking for a Kizashi and to let him know if I wanted to trade mine in. Much to his surprise, I told him to add my name to the list, and to let me know if they get in any SLS Kizashi's.

It is a little unsettling that he wants me to trade in my car, and he doesn't even know what the Kizashi trim packages are, but whatever.

Any one else being contacted by their dealerships for the cars they bought?

Yeah, I get an offer at least once a year from the dealership I bought my wife's Odyssey from. They always say that there are people looking for my year and trim package. It also includes "special" deals on leasing and purchasing a new Honda. I'll let you decide if they're really like my Odyssey or if they just want to sell me a new one.

LPSISRL is spot-on. It's a common dealer tactic. They say that people want your car (total lie) and create this notion in your head that because of it, you'll get a good deal on your trade-in. The reality is that they just want you to come back and look at all the new cars they have. They're hoping you'll fall in love with a newer car in the showroom or on the lot and trade your old one in for a brand new ride. Many dealerships do this with all kinds of cars. It's basically like a lure for you to visit the dealership.
From my reading on dealership insider confessions, most trade-ins aren't even sold by the dealership to the public anyway. They are auctioned off to used car dealers so this demand they claim on your car isn't even realistic.

I used to get dealer mailers like that for my MR2. Hard to believe there were a ton of people looking for a twenty-something year old car like the one I owned. Took me forever to get off their mailing/email list.

I STILL get these hack notices from marketing firms on behalf of dealerships. Some ask for my former: '06 HHR (haven't had for 9 years), my '06 Jetta (8 years ago) and my '11 Mazda 3 that's been gone since March of '14. People aren't lined up to buy your used car. If there's a consistent scam in the car business, it's these letters.
