Apple Carplay - head unit upgrade - keep Rockford Fosgate amp system?

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

Something tells me your install will go very well. Can't wait to see it. 8-)

Behind on the install into the Kizashi, however this weekend I did do the install of an Alpine ilx-107 into one of our Grand Vitaras (we're a four Suzuki car family). Here's the pics. The orange reverse wire is the Alpine's tap to the car's reverse wire on the doorjamb (so the Alpine and the backup camera transmitter know to turn themselves on). This is rather a sweet system, the Carplay on this unit is wireless (first wireless Carplay unit on the market). Excellent response on the touchscreen; gorgeous sound through the stock speakers.

Beautiful install! If you told me it was factory I would have believed it. 8-)

One question though--what is that button to the left of the AC button with just a single LED in the center of it?

Thanks Samir - good question about the little disk. It appears to be a dummy - nothing in the manual about it, although it is depicted on a diagram. The little dot in the center is not an LED. Strange!

Ahh, now I see it. Yes, probably a dummy as that control panel was used in other models where that hole probably has a switch. I'm sure a picture exists somewhere out there with that switch installed too. 8-)

I have not attempted the installation yet -- but regarding the question above on the faceplate/console, the Scosche double din opening appears to fit the Alpine well. There are other thread(s) here in which the Scosche size is seen as too small for the head unit being installed, but while the Scosche opening appears only a couple of millimeters wider than reported in the other thread, the fit is good for this Alpine ilx-207. There will be a milllimeter or so of space left at the top and bottom which should not be noticed. The Scosche also looks very nicely made, with the slight design folds tapered up from the a/c faceplate continued onto the Scosche. As this was one of the advantages of the other faceplate named, I think Scosche may have changed its parameters.
