USB port current?

Does anyone know what the max amperage of the USB outlet is?

I don't know for certain but I'm quite sure it's the standard for most USB ports at 5V and 1A.
I actually have a device that measures readings for voltage, amps, and mAh for USB devices. When I saw your post, I got curious so I tested it out. Amperage will differ by device and how it's used but none of the three devices topped 1A for the USB port in my tests. My iPod Touch yielded a reading of 0.20A to 0.35A while the dash camera read up to 0.65A, proving that it's not a 0.5A max USB port. I also tried it with my phone and the Kizashi's USB port read about 0.3A while the dual 2.4A charger I have in the cigarette lighter port yielded a reading of 0.99A to charge the phone.
I have a very limited understanding of electrical systems, but it seems to me that it's a 5V/1A max USB port which is pretty standard.
The first picture is from reading the iPod Touch while playing music. The second is with the dash camera connected while recording.

Thanks, KuroNekko. I need to get a device like that.
The reason I asked is that I have taken a few trips in my Toyota Sienna with my LG Stylo android phone running Waze and streaming music with Radio Droid and the battery stayed at 100% after hours of driving. I just drove 72 miles in my Kizashi running Waze & Radio Droid and my phone was down to 38%. I was shocked. Maybe I did not get the USB cord plugged into the phone all the way? When I plug the USB cord into the phone now it beeps a connection and seems to be charging. It probably is just my fault with a sloppy cord connection. Seeing that the Kiz is capable of at least 0.65A is reassuring.

Very interesting that the port puts out more than 500mA since the official power spec for usb 1.0/.0 is 500 mA and 900 mA for usb 3.0. Seems as if Suzuki did what most others have done in regards to the power capabilities for usb, unless they implemented some of the 'charging port' parts of the specification.

I too noticed that the Kizashi's USB could barely charge my iPhone with Waze and Pandora running. Same with my Pilot.

My Accord is rated @ 1AMP, but I can run Waze, Pandora etc and it charges the phone rather quickly. Higher trims are 1.5A, I'm wondering if somehow I have a 1.5A?

I've simply reserved the Kizashi's USB port for data for my iPod. For charging, I use the cigarette socket with a USB charger. USB devices that only provide downstream charging power offer much higher amperage than data USB ports. I use a dual 2.4A adapter but may pick up a QualComm QuickCharge 2.0 adapter given my phone uses that. It charges my phone so much faster than anything. That being said, my phone is also one of the last holdouts on PMA wireless charging. Given the market favored Qi wireless (which the next iPhone will finally incorporate), PMA chargers like the Duracell Powermat are literally going for about $6 on Amazon. Given my phone was designed for wireless charging without a special case or add-ons, it actually works quite well. I haven't plugged in my phone to charge in weeks.

I bought a couple of these for both of my cars last year. These'll charge your phone real quick, if you have a phone with a USB Type-C port, of course.
