Update, Progressive is actually going to expand their search due to the rarity of the car. Also I have provided them with three examples of GTS Sport's for sale nationwide with auto's (as 6MTs are impossible to find) averaging $9494. So that's around $2500 more than they were trying to tell me it was worth. Additionally, I had the shop its at do an estimate for repairs and they came in about $900 less than what Progressive's estimate was.
For the person asking about the airbags, no, they did not deploy. Thankfully.
I'm kinda getting the impression that Progressive just wanted to total the car and be done with it. But it's looking more
and more like I might be able to get that decision reversed and have it repaired with a clean title.

Good for you. Stick with it and don't settle for anything less than what you deserve and have paid for.

Update:
Progressive blinked! They "revised their estimate based on new information" and determined that the car is actually worth repairing! My shop said they should be able to get it done by the 28th, even if they have to get parts from Japan.:D

I would have fixed it regardless, but now sans a salvage title!

Their revised value was $10,000 :D Quite a change.

Update:
Still waiting for the Kizashi to get out of the body shop. Progressive insisted on using new parts from Japan (I wasn't going to stop them) so thats taken awhile. On top of that the first hood that was shipped out arrived damaged. Supposedly the second one will be here Tuesday and the shop will have it all painted and back together by the end of the week!

I've really been missing the Kizashi. With my Miata stored for the winter I've been driving my '94 Trooper everywhere. And while its a great rig for exploring the back roads, it's not terribly sporty! And I need some turn apexing and short shifting action in my daily commute or I just don't feel fulfilled! :D

Great to hear this story turn out with a happy ending. :)

You may have some 'body shop quirks' when you get it back so be ready to go back and forth a bit on this stuff, but other than that you'll have your Kizashi back. :D

Final update on this:
It took two months for the bodyshop to finish the repairs. Mainly because of parts delays or mis-ships from Japan. Got it back looking like new and was very happy with the shop. If you're in Salt Lake and need a body shop, Schneider Auto Karosserie is top notch!
