The whine remains silenced, and there have been plenty of ever-upward elevation tests performed
Tires need rotation of the other kind

Completely replaced all of the fluid? A single drain and refill? Multiple drains and refills? Filter(s), no filter(s) replaced? Trying to ascertain what, exactly, gets rid of the whine....

Actually, it's an indicator based upon dealer cost of the fluid. I'd guess a couple drains and fills at that price.

I haven't come across any.
Had much fun driving home this afternoon myself. Yet another rainy day and with no traffic, cool temps and wet greasy roads assisted by all the mud being drug out of the fields by the harvesting that's in full swing. Much lateral 'drift' in the twisties and the car was smooooothly eating it all up producing loads of grins. I was thinking exactly the same as you mentioned. I'm convinced the car was enjoying it as much as I was. Its CVT now performing flawlessly and quietly.

Yup, the Kizashi will be hard to replace for me too. Despite living and driving in a very different region from either you and Ronzuki in a different spec'ed Kizashi (FWD Manual), I find the car just as enjoyable and rewarding to drive and own. The value factor is certainly unbeatable in my mind and I feel that even if I was to replace the car with something similar, I would have overpaid given what I got my Kizashi for.
Hence, my plan is to keep the Kizashi for as long as I can and then get something so different (especially in powertrain technology) that comparisons can't really be made.
