Do the manual transmission models have a reverse lockout feature? I noticed that the Nissan Juke does since its reverse is in the lower left position. There are no manual Kizashis within 300 miles of my house to test drive. Six speeds tend to be trickier so I don't want to shift into reverse by accident, as I am used to five speeds.

Do you just pull up on that ring?

I 've hit reverse on my Toyota quite a few times while trying to shift into the non-existent 6th gear...

Yeah, you just lift the ring up and shift, its the same in the Chevy Cobalt.

So– anyone know how many gears are overdrive? I see that the CVT has two. The best I could find is this from CNET at http://reviews.cnet.com/sedan/2010-suzu ... 831-2.html:
On the freeway, we noted the somewhat close gear ratios, with sixth gear letting the engine run at 2,500rpm. Dropping down to fifth only produced a 500rpm difference. We would have expected a taller top gear, but the car's mileage was still looking good, running up toward 25 mpg.
It would have been nice if they had mentioned at what speed it was turning 2,500 RPM.

I found an answer to my question here:
http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-ne ... -uvgd.html

2200 RPM at 100 Km/h (62 MPH). Here is says that the CVT turns 1900 RPM at the same speed:

So, with the MT, it should be turning 2500 at around 70 MPH. Whew! Scared me there for a minute. For all I knew, he was turning that at 55...

I personally feel the gear ratios (MT) are perfect. It does ~3000 rpm at 80 mph in 6th gear, 2200 rpm at 60 mph. However, I feel the engine sweet spot is in between 2500 and 3500 rpm. If I am driving at 60 mph I downshift to 5th gear. The trip computer reports higher instant fuel economy running at 2600 rpm than running 2200 rpm. I need to drive it more to find out if that is truly accurate :)
