New member, need some info on MPG

Hey all,
I just bought my 2010 Kizashi GTS last week, and i'm very impressed with the car. One little gripe is MPG i'm getting. I'm only getting around 15-16 mpg, just wanted to know this is normal? The car is listed 23, so i'm not sure why its that low.
Now, granted, I live in Pittsburgh, and we have a ton of hills. Also, I used to have a Nissan Pathfinder, and that was definitely worse. I think it was listed 13 city, but it was lower than that. Should I invest in a cold air intake? Any other safe non-voiding bumper-to-bumper upgrades I can do to help with MPG?
Again, I really love the car!

15-16 according to what? The dashometer or gas/miles?
If the dashometer, reset it. They must spend a ton of time idling - I drove several hundred miles at highway speed and could never get the average speed over 35.

I live near Pittsburgh and just got a 2011 S Kizashi. I got 33 mph on my first tank, mostly highway miles though.

I have had my Kizashi for 15 months and have averaged 22.2 mpg city; 31.8 high way and 24.3 mpg overall driving. I live in Edgewood, Washington and it is hilly. Try not taking off quite as fast and your mileage will improve.

I,ve had mine for about 6 months and never get more than 16.5 to 17 mpg around town.On the highway , however , I've never gotten below 33.This is according to the dash display.I reset it with every fill-up.I'm in Staten Island , NYC with lots of stop and go.

Yeah, I work down in the south side, so I do a lot of stop/go traffic. I did finally get it on the highway and the MPG was around 30-33. I'm pretty moderate when it comes to driving, I don't really speed off and I usually drift it when possible.
I was gonna buy a K&N filter for it, as the car itself has a somewhat cold air intake already in it seems. Like i said before though, my pathfinder used to be like $60 ever 5-6 days in gas, this has only been like $40 a full week.

CAI won't help gas mileage. In a fuel injected, closed loop system, more air = more fuel = more power.

I live north of Pittsburgh, in Saxonburg, and commute to the north shore for work every day. My Kizzy responds well to a light touch, and due to the CVT's deep overdrive, it does quite well on the highway. On the commute TO work, i have had my 'dash-o-meter at right around 40MPG average! Of course, the return home has a LOT more stop and go and that knocks it right down. But i am still averaging around 28, and that is running the AC a lot these last few weeks.

I commute into NYC every day. At worst when its all stop and go with passengers and a/c I get around 15.5 for the length of Manhattan, when the roads are clear the same commute is around 21.
