Steering vibration, strange suspension/brake pedal sound etc

The Kizashi should soon show up in Australia. We look forward to seeing members from your region.

Hi guys,

After getting the exhaust fixed last year, my 20,000km Kizashi (CVT) is displaying some other symptoms. :(
I would like to know if anyone in Australia is experiencing the same thing.... or have a check. :D

1) 'Static' like rattle that seems to be coming from the windscreen area - this usually gets worse with acceleration and braking. I can't isolate the sound.

2) Steering vibration at over 105km/h
Not visible, but I can feel the steering wheel start to vibrate once I go over 105km/h.
Because of this, the car felt a bit unstable at speed. Cruising at 100km/h on the freeway is fine. But when I increase the speed, I can feel the vibration setting in (even with cruise control).
I've done a wheel balance, but the problem still persists.

3) Once in a while, a strange metallic click/knock seems to come from the front wheel area. Happens on the freeway, from stand still, straight/turning... pretty much when the wheels are under/released load. I suspect the bushings are worn.
Dealer cannot find any problem, or hear anything (it didn't happen during the test run with the mechanic unfortunately)

4) With the engine running, only in "Park", when I press the brake pedal, I can hear a click from the centre console where the gear shift is. I can feel the click with my hand on the gear knob and handbrake.

5) When I turn the AC at full blast, something rattles from inside the AC vents. After a while it goes away.

Other than the suspension 'clicks' and steering vibration, I'm not that worried about the rest.
I've been in/out of the dealership since I got the car back in May 2011. I'm getting tired of it, and I think they are getting tired of me too.

Please have a look out for these, and see if I'm alone. ;)

I still love the car, in fact just gave it a good wash and wax. :D

2 and 3 could be bad ball joints or tie rods, and that could be SERIOUS if they fail while you're driving.

If your dealership has not been able to diagnose any of these problems, you need to find somewhere else because they are clearly incompetent and potentially putting your life in danger.

Do you know of a GOOD alignment shop? One that does only alignments - not a tire shop with an alignment rack in the corner. They would be able to easily diagnose if it's one of the items above. You may even be able to get Suzuki to pay for it, if you can show the dealer couldn't diagnose it.

Taking the car to a wheel and suspension specialist tomorrow.

EDIT:
I took the car to a reputable suspension/wheel specialist.
They had a good look and drive... Unfortunately, they found nothing suspicious.

So, I'm just going to live with it.
If it gets worse... I'll deal with it then.

Hi CLLee

I havent had any issues with mine, even when travelling 100km/hr+ and it's now coming up to 15,000kms. The only noise I have experienced is a small rattle in the dash, seems to be coming from above the air vents........I seem to recall seeing some other comments in the forum describing similar rattles, so not sure if this is the same thing or not. A friend of mine has a Suzuki Swift and has said they have the same rattle, so it might be a common Suzuki issue?

Other than that I've been very happy and cant complain at all. No paint issues either!
