Hi I have a 2012 Kizashi with the same ausio sistem Garmin. I have problems with manual tunning of stations. Please if you have the original user manual let me know. Thank you.

I did something similar and fitted the 2010 model Kenwood Navigation Unit (I got my hands on the genuine factory upgrade kit - to suit the XLS, ironically...) to my 2011 Touring. That included all the necessary wiring loom interfaces, microphone, dash parts etc. The wiring loom adapter wasn't "plug and play" due to the wiring differences between the 2010 Prestige and 2011 Touring (ie. Rockford Fosgate head unit with external amplifier vs mine with normal head unit and internal amplification.)

I didn't have to contend with adding the steering wheel controls - I just answer calls by using the head unit touch screen car stereos.

You'll have a lot of wiring ahead of you. Good luck. :)
Good to hear from someone with similar needs. I'm frustrated something isn't out there. Maybe there are licensing costs that prevent people from putting out a Windows-based car stereo?

Hi guys,

I don't think Elyse with her wonderful audio diagrams is active on this forum anymore, so I'll just ask in the hope someone else can shed some light ...

... this is in relation to my Fuji Garmin problem which I've explained in: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=4809

Just recapping - the unit is refusing to turn on/off in sync with the ignition, no matter how long I leave the unit unplugged and starved of power, it won't seem to reset (I was hoping it was a software problem). The car is generally unmolested in terms of wiring mods.

My latest testing has revealed that Pin No. 9 of the main harness from the car, being the Accessory Switched +12v Power Supply Input (refer image below), has a voltage of about 12.8v when the ignition is on (which is what one would expect ie. normal), but strangely it's giving out a voltage around 1.88-2.05v even with the ignition off - testing is via a multimeter with red prong contacting No. 9 pin and black prong contacting chassis. Is this residual voltage normal? I was expecting zero voltage.

If it's abnormal, I'm wondering if that's causing/contributing to the issue of the Fuji Garmin refusing to switch off with the ignition. I'm also not familiar with how an audio unit works in terms of power supply - is the Accessory switch current simply used as a trigger to switch the unit on/off, while the actual power supply for operation is fromthe Constant +12v Power Supply line (in this case, Pin No. 1)?

Happy to hear any insights .... (because I don't want to replace this Fuji Garmin with an aftermarket unit and realise it was this residual voltage that was causing the issue).

Thanks ...

1.88-2.05v for pin 9 is normal it's digital signal in 12V means '0' to control flow current of battery voltage to HU.But If you want make sure this voltage cause your problem use low resistor like 100 ohm and connect pin 9 to ground when ACC is OFF and test your HU.
assuming connector connection to HU is correct I think there is a internal problem with your HU.
You have to disassemble and follow PCB trace for any part defects usually there is some special transistor (Power MOSFET) on PCB to power switch mechanism.

Thanks Saeed .... much appreciate your help again. I'm not an electronics or electrical specialist (just a mechanical engineer!) so what you've suggested in terms of PCB is probably beyond my capabilities ...

... but ... last night, I managed to confirm what was causing the HU to not turn off ... basically I managed to remove the HU from the car and hook up Pin 1 (constant 12v channel) to a static 12v car battery, as well as hook up Pin 9 (accessory 12v channel) to a switched 12v source, which conveniently happens to taper down its current/voltage after switching off ... so that gave me the chance to work out exactly what voltage the HU actually shut down ... cut a long story short, the HU powered up fine when Pin 9 was energised, but after switching the switched powered source off and using a multimeter to observe the falling voltage, the HU actually stayed on until the voltage in Pin 9 dropped under 1.10v - yep, one-point-one - remarkably low, given some car radio technicians told me during the week most aftermarket units shut themselves off once the accessory channel voltage drops under 11v (eleven). So it makes sense my HU remains on, because the digital signal from the car is at 1.88v at the lowest. I have no idea why this has suddenly happened, I can only think the HU is probably faulty.

I contacted Garmin Australia support and they were only helpful in telling me Garmin is only responsible for the maps in the Fuji Garmin unit, and I will have to contact a Suzuki dealer ... well forget that! Being a typical dealer they will charge me an arm and a leg just to look at it and probably end up telling me I have to replace the unit! I'm resigned to the fact I'll have to get an aftermarket unit to replace this - in some ways I don't mind as I will get a chance to upgrade to one with Apple Carplay, but I'm busy trying to work out which brand/model has the easiest hook-up to the steering wheel controls, including (if possible) the phone buttons ....

OK aranciata-oz excellent you done the hard part (finding cause of HU problem) in this case you can use simple 12V relay to control PIN9 signal.

this relay allows ACC 12V signal to pass when this signal is higher that 9V.
connect pin 85 to GND
connect pins 86,87 to ACC
connect pin 30 to PIN9 of HU
87a left unconnected or connect to GND

with this modification PIN9 of HU has 12V when ACC voltage is higher that 9V otherwise 0V.
MOD is simple but I totally agree with you it better to be done by professional.

Hi Saeed!

Thanks! I was actually thinking about this relay myself, as I’ve used one before for operating the aftermarket DRL on my Kizashi (via the engine fuse box). I think that will fix it because the key here is cutting power to the Pin 9 at a voltage higher than 1.10v, which the relay’s 9v is perfect ....

You’re a brilliant helper! Thanks again Saeed!
